Jurors See Video of Defendant Talking of Bomb Plot (2004 RNC Convention, needed to ask his mother)

Prosecutors at the trial of a Pakistani immigrant accused of conspiring to bomb the Herald Square subway station in 2004 played a secretly recorded videotape for the jurors in the case today. The tape showed the man talking about the plan with a police informer and another man, who has since admitted to taking part in the plot.

The immigrant, Shahawar Matin Siraj, 23, agrees to guide a bomber into the Herald Square subway station at West 34th Street, which he has visited on a number of occasions as he developed the plot. He agrees to check the area in advance of the bomber's entry into the station and to point out to him where to place one or two back-pack bombs.

But speaking in disjointed English, he refuses to place the bombs himself, saying he does not want to be blamed for any deaths. He also says he needs to ask his mother.

"I will work with those brothers, that's it," he says, on the black and white video, which was projected on a large screen on the courtroom wall and lasted about 45 minutes. "As a planner or whatever. But to putting there? I'm not sure."

Later he explains to the informer, Osama Eldawoody, a 50-year-old Egyptian who was naturalized as a United States citizen: "I don't want to carry neither I want to put it, from my hands. What if that guy who will be going to come out of the train will be Muslim. Thing about every single thing."

He says several times that he wants only to cause economic damage, not to kill anyone.

The government has sought to portray Mr. Siraj as a dangerous man bent on carrying out a devastating attack. His lawyers, however, contend that the young man, who came to New

The poor boy he just wants to get a little bit pregnant.

He doesn’t want to have the blood of a Muslim on his hands. He wants to be a warrior with out shedding blood.

What a hypocrite. What a coward. What a fool.

In for a penny in for a pound. He is just as guilty as the guy who carries the bomb.

Kudos to the NYPD.

Many freepers were there, some were there as official delegates and others were freeping against the pinko protesters and doing pro-life activism.

How many of these fools actually carry a bomb fused with a cell phone detonator and don't even realize thety're about to be a suicide bomber? How many of the 911 highjacking fools actually realized theirs was a suicide mission? Days before 911, one even boughht a suit to wear to a wedding of a friend! Satan is crafty in his use of Islam, you gotta see it!

I'm pretty sure most-if not all-of them knew they were going to die-and in the process, murder thousands of innocent human beings-when they came to the United States for their "martyr operation."

That's probably one of the reasons the Lebanese hijacker-Ziad Jarrah-was so reluctant to commit to the mission in the first place.

On the other hand, a lot of the so-called "suicide" missions in places like Iraq are engineered by people who have no intention of telling the drivers of their weaponized cars/vans that they're going to die.

A favorite tactic of the Palestinians is to use mentally retarded adults or children who have no conception of death as guinea pigs for their terrorist attacks inside of Israel.

Palestinians prove Neandertals are not extinct. Those are some of the most primitive examples of the species on the planet. Sadly, too many Moslems are throwing their selves right into the primitive pie ... have you ever read about the way the Iranians slaughtered Ba'hais -and there cannot be a more peaceful religion- a mere hundred years or less ago? They haven't changed even a smidgeon! Throwbacks to subspecies ...

My point is that the IRI is the culmination of a downward spiral that began at the turn of the past century.

The persecution of the Bahai, the 5,000 or so remaining Mizrahi/Sephardic Jews, Sufis, and any other political or religious dissident in that country, as well as the cross-border raids against the PKK and other Kurdish separatists, is simply an instrument used by a regime that has no other viable political options.

It's like Ahmadinejad's insipid attempt at ingratiating himself with the opposition by allowing women to attend soccer matches.

Poor bastard actually thinks if he doesn't actually place a bomb he's not guilty of anything.

Sad.

Now jail him for the rest of his miserable life.

We'll never really know.
I recall reading a couple of years ago an article by Tom Friedman saying he thought only those who flew the planes knew the whole plan.

BTW if memory serves, before someone goes on jihad they have to get their mothers permission.
