Drudge's posting of this article is a a cheap and tawdry political trick. He is not a good man.
Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Youre my daughter, and I love you, and I just want you to be happy. Only in American today would this be a surprise or newsworthy to the MSM. As a father of two daughers I would say the same. I also have a son. Parents loving their child must be a surprise to the MSM. No wonder there is such a disconnect today.

One simply wonders which teacher, student leader or family friend "helped" junior high age, Mary Cheney, realize her dream of becomming a lesbian.

Liberals cannot understand that conservatives do not disown everyone who disagrees with them or do something that they might not approve of. Conservatives like people. Liberals on the other hand...

Cheney writes that her mother hugged her, but then burst into tears, worried that she would face a life of pain and prejudice.
Her mother must have already known John Kerry and John Edwards back then.

Youre my daughter, and I love you, and I just want you to be happy.A wonderful, warm and intelligent response. Compare with Randall Terry, the hero of the radical right. Per Terry:
Jamiel is "bringing great sadness to our home and embarrassment to our family."

I think the Cheneys are great...they don't wear their hearts on their sleeves, they didn't make an issue of Mary's lifestyle choice in the 2004 campaign--the Democrat operatives did. John Kerry and John Edwards both mentioned it, I think.
I am appalled that anyone would think less of Dick Cheney because he loves his daughter--lesbian or not.

Mary Cheney tells Purdum that her father has very little tolerance for bullshit, pardon my French. When I saw Cheney "debate" Lieberman on the Larry King Show on CNN during the 2000 campaign, I immediately sensed this. I wasn't seeing a tradional pol at work, I was seeing one of the few adults in politics tell it straight and without the usual coating of BS.
I've always had the highest regard for the man because of that.

He's her father, I would be disappointed if he said anything else.

I guess it's all in how you define love. When they stand before God one day, will it matter that it felt real nice to look the other way?

Cheney rejects the caricature of him as the power behind the throneFunny how for decades the media made fun of the office of the Vice President and how useless the job was. Most Vice Presidents had little or no power or influence in that job.
Now that Dick has been a powerful and influential Veep, all of a sudden people seem to be bothered by that. Who cares. Compare Dick Cheney to Al Gore ... and please don't spray your soda on your screen while doing so!

I am not one drop surprised about Cheney on this one.
Many people seem to forget some things he said during the Bush Sr administration. About a good year before the election (The one Papa Bush lost) he was on one of those talking head shows on Sunday morning. The subject was the Homosexual ban in the Military, it was during this Cheney referred to the (this was before don't ask don't tell) rules as a "red herring" from the Reagan administration.
I predicted then the rule would be dropped as soon as the election was over. I was fully expecting Bush to win at that time. I was right as soon as the election was over the Clintoon administration changed the rules.
//sarcasm on//
One more example of the cavernous difference between the GOP and the DNC.
