Polls: Citizens losing sympathy for illegal immigrants By Laura Crimaldi Monday, May 1, 2006

New national polls show Americans are feeling less sympathy toward undocumented workers and have serious doubts the government can fix the country’s massive immigration problem. Recent Zogby International polls show the immigration protests in March left three in five adults feeling less compassionate toward undocumented workers. Even 46 percent of the Hispanic respondents said they are less likely to be sympathetic to the cause of immigrants as a result of the protests. The Zogby poll also shows 18 percent of respondents believe Congress and President Bush will not come up with a solution to the problem of undocumented workers. The survey included 7,967 respondents nationwide and was conducted between March 31 and April 3. A separate poll conducted by Harris Interactive shows a majority of Americans favor an immigration policy that would grant special treatment to the children and spouses of U.S. citizens, with 73 percent of those polled giving the thumbs-up to children and 67 percent giving preference to spouses. That poll reached 2,377 U.S. adults who were surveyed online between April 11 and 17. Fluency in English and job skills topped the list of factors the majority of Harris poll respondents want the government to weigh in determining whether an immigrant can enter this country, the poll results said.

We all NEED TO WRITE AND CALL THOSE IN POWER and tell them in no uncertain terms what WE THE PEOPLE want .

We already have countless times on countless issues. The arrogant cretins in Congress do not care what the people want. Only "They" know what's best for us and they will continue to ignore the wishes of the majority until we send them all home. I know I will not be voting for any incumbents if amnesty passes, period. I am so sick and tired of pandering to every whiny group in this country who feels wronged, or is offended by something, or who thinks they are owed anything by us. They aren't owed a damn thing. Deport them all or I am looking at third party candidates.

"Undocumented workers"?

What about "undocumented criminals" or the "undocumented child molesters" or the "undocumented unlicensed drivers without car insurance who get into fatal accidents over and over"?

As though they all work. And even if they did.

Well, I haven't given up on ALL Republicans yet. I keep hoping they might come to their senses. But I steadfastedly will refuse voting for any Republican, local or national, who doesn't support fences and deportations. That is THE make-or-break issue with me. And, I'm not going to be swayed by spooky threats that it will usher in Hillary or some other noxious Democrat. Like it would really matter. The country and our American culture would be dead-and-buried either way. We're practically at that point already, with criminal mobs overrunning our streets, making demands. Within just five years I've seen my community turn into a third-world cesspool. I already feel like a stranger in my own country. I'm not going to reward a vote to any traitorous politician who has contributed to that. Rather, I hope they'll burn in Hell.

"Well, I haven't given up on ALL Republicans yet."

Thats the only ray of hope we have, there are many good Republicans. They are the ONLY ones I will support - because of what they believe in, not because they are Republican.

your post number 7 is crap.

undocumented worker is of his own free will doing labor and the employer is of his own free will paying.

your cases of robbery rape and murder involve no free will and in fact involve forcible coertion.

There has been a backlash against the illegals.

Posts like yours create a backlash against your position too.

Yes. I may actually use that picture in post #24 for my next return of their donation solicitation. It's a clever idea and there is no mistaking the point being made. :-)

Quotes from California's immigration rallies:

"This country needs us. We are the strong arms doing all the tough jobs." Donna Maria Mostache, 43, an illegal immigrant from Mexico protesting in Los Angeles.

---

"We're here. And all we're asking is fair treatment for everyone. We don't want immigrants to be criminalized." Catalina Hernandez, a protester who marched to Los Angeles City Hall with a niece and nephew.

---

"We pay our taxes, we obey the law, we are learning English, our lives are here." Monica de la Torre, a 24-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico, at the Los Angeles demonstration.

---

"If he's even five minutes late, I worry that he'll never come home. This is in our face every day. And it's not just about Mexicans. It's about people like me. It's about all of us. It's about what it means to be American." Linnea Pierrard, 37, a teacher who attended a San Francisco rally with her husband, an illegal immigrant.

---

"What everyone here is doing is making themselves visible instead of being inside working in a kitchen or taking care of other people's kids - doing jobs that other people don't want to do." Daniel Gonzalez, a 25-year-old Los Angeles artist who is the son of Mexican immigrants.

---

"We can't have any more people come here." Police Lt. Art DeClercq in Huntington Park, where some 25,000 people jammed a park.

---

"I find this kind of occasion a civil exultation where people basically celebrate diversity and the multicultural essence of America." Steven Black, 44, a U.S. citizen originally from Canada, at a San Francisco rally.

---

"I said they are going to be with me - protesting." Ruby Martinez, explaining that she refused to write a sick note to explain her children's absence from school to attend the Los Angeles protest.

One person was waving a Mexican flag.

You should have been here for the first big rally in March.
You would have seen a thousand Mexican flags.
They're learning from their mistakes.

Buy your own square foot (or two and get a free yard sign replica) of this billboard which will go up in major cities across America. (see the link for more info: http://www.grassfire.org/8042/offer.asp ).

Check it out.

In communist China, North Korea, Cuba, and elsewhere, May 1st is "Labor Day" which is a holiday for "the common man". It's amazing how the illegal aliens have stupidly allowed themselves to be used by the communist/socialist activists on a day that stands for everything anti-American.

Perhaps all the demonstrators would be better of in one of the above aforementioned countries...

Well said. Good luck arguing with these people, though. You'd have a better chance reasoning with a ham sandwich. All you'll ever get is a litany of insults.

I'm angry too, but the open borders, pro-amnesty Republicans believe we are still going to vote for them.

Those stupid Republicans are getting the word and they see the hand writing on the wall they KNOW we are going to be switiching parties and voting en masse for the open-borders, pro-amenesty, anti-American, commie loving, tax increasing, terrorist loving Democrats.

I just can't wait for NOVEMBER to get these rat ba....ds out of office!!!!
