Polls: Citizens losing sympathy for illegal immigrants By Laura Crimaldi Monday, May 1, 2006

New national polls show Americans are feeling less sympathy toward undocumented workers and have serious doubts the government can fix the country’s massive immigration problem. Recent Zogby International polls show the immigration protests in March left three in five adults feeling less compassionate toward undocumented workers. Even 46 percent of the Hispanic respondents said they are less likely to be sympathetic to the cause of immigrants as a result of the protests. The Zogby poll also shows 18 percent of respondents believe Congress and President Bush will not come up with a solution to the problem of undocumented workers. The survey included 7,967 respondents nationwide and was conducted between March 31 and April 3. A separate poll conducted by Harris Interactive shows a majority of Americans favor an immigration policy that would grant special treatment to the children and spouses of U.S. citizens, with 73 percent of those polled giving the thumbs-up to children and 67 percent giving preference to spouses. That poll reached 2,377 U.S. adults who were surveyed online between April 11 and 17. Fluency in English and job skills topped the list of factors the majority of Harris poll respondents want the government to weigh in determining whether an immigrant can enter this country, the poll results said.

You want to send a message to the RNC that they will hear loud and clear??? Then do the following:

Send them one of these instead of a donation, using the RNC's own postage paid return envelopes!!!

Send one along to a politically like-minded relative or friend who opposes Amnesty, but doesn’t visit Free Republic!!!

The RNC will miss your money more than they will miss your vote!!! If you do not have access to a printer, then write “Secure Our Borders, Stop Catering to Illegals, Then We Will Send American Dollars” or something similar on your donation slip and return it to the RNC in their postage paid envelopes will work as well as sending the “peso”!!!

If you do want to give financially to Republicans, give only to individual candidates/politicians who support or vote to secure our borders and don’t cater to illegals!!!

Online poll by Philly channel 10 today reported 89% of respondents believed illegals should be made to leave the country, only 11% thought they should stay - the big "protest" doesn't seem to have convinced many........

If the Democrats get in I'll do as I always have, work to get conservatives in office. We are looking at possible amnesty for tens of millions of illegal invaders, not because of the Democrats, but because of the Republicans who control the Senate, the House and the Presidency.

I feel free to bitch about any politician who sells out my Country, Democrat or Republican. Maybe your family, the RNC, dictates to you when you can bitch or not, but thats not the rules or the spirit of Free Republic.
Just as anti-Bush is not a viable political agenda, neither is anti-Democrat. I fight for principles not parties. You have clearly demonstrated that this is not your position-so be it. It does, however, seem hypocritical to bash Democrats because they are anti-Bush without principle and also bash FReepers who are against the President on principle.
No man nor party should ever be more important than securing our Country and honoring its laws and the principles upon which it was founded.
