Egyptian forces say they are fighting huge battle against al Qaeda mountain stronghold

Egyptian forces say they are fighting the “Tora Bora Battle of Sinai” against a new al Qaeda mountain stronghold. Our military sources reveal the battle is raging on Jebel Magharah, 22km SW of El Arish and west of a former al Qaeda base on Jebel Hilal (alt. 654 meters).

The fortified al Qaeda stronghold on Jebel Magharah is beating back an Egyptian assault on the mountain site. Signals passed among the troops describe the operation as the “Tora Bora of Sinai,” naming it after the fierce epic US-al Qaeda engagement in Afghanistan three years ago. Both sides have sustained casualties.

Egypt launched a large-scale clean-up operation against al Qaeda’s Sinai bases last week after three bomb blasts killed at least 34 people at the Sinai resort of Dahab Tuesday. They are also reported to be raiding more new al Qaeda havens around St. Catherine’s monastery and Wadi Paran in the south.

Hopefully the Egyptian forces will clean them all out. UBL and Zarqawi must be shown that no country is going to put up with their BS anymore. Al Qaeda seems to be losing any popularity it once had. Only the most brainwashed are going to sign up.

One doesn't think of them with the Saudis et al, but apparently they do.

Interesting. There is an order of Mohammad preserved at +Catherine's Monastery directing that all Mohammadens protect the monks there forever. He couldn't write so the document is signed with a palm print.

Next stop, Iran. After that, Syria, Pakistan, Sudan, or maybe somewhere else.

Ok, they produce 594,000 barrels per day, which isn't insignificant -- it about covers Egyptian domestic consumption.

Good, ol' DEBKA...

This means that the Egyptians are either fighting Al Qaeda or the Goa'uld.

In the centuries following the Crucifixion, the Sinai, sparsely populated tho it was, was Christian, harboring many monasteries. One of these was St. Catherine's, which harbored her relics. The story is that Mohammed passed through there several times in his traveling-salesman days, and availed himself of the monks' generous hospitality.

In his post-Medina days, when Islam was conquering vast territories by the sword, he signed with a palm-print an order of protection for St. Catherine's, enjoining the "faithful" from their usual slaughter and pillage. If I knew how to post pics to FR I would send you a good one of this document, which, IIRC, is written in Sinatic Greek and Arabic.

Blast them all.

The majority of those people are hellbound anyway.

Why waste time?

"If I knew how to post pics to FR"

I'm no good at this stuff in general, but try right-clicking on the pic. I believe you'll see a COPY option and maybe another you can use, just drag it to a Word Pad---or click it onto it.
