The law firm I worked at .. there were a lot of cases that settled prior to going to trial
Most often, it is not worth the cost to try the case especially in light of the tendency of jurys to treat them like winning the lottery. Plaintiffs' lawyers appeal to emotions (ala John Edwards), and bring in their paid "experts" and few, if any, jurors are trained enough to sort out nonsense from reality.
It is interesting that one of Reid's premises is that there really is no problem, and even it there were, this wouldn't help much.
His answer, further regulation and price controls on the insurance industry, the REAL culprit in this mess.
My computer is giving me troubles again today and I missed the end of Harry's lecture
I'm sorry your computer is giving you problems, but you did not miss anything that would have advanced your understanding of the world or anything in it.
The Pentagon announced today the formation of a new 500-man elite fighting unit called the United States Redneck Special Forces. These Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas boys have been dropped off into Iraq and have been given only the following facts about terrorists:
1. The season opened today.
2. There is no limit.
3. They taste just like chicken.
4. They don't like beer, pickups, country music or Jesus.
5. They are DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for the death of Dale Earnhardt.
6. Their favorite movie is "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN."
We expect the problem in Iraq to be over by Friday.
:)
LOL. It's even funnier when you start out taking it seriously, as I did.
You mean this did not come from Rummy directly? ;)
Dorgan indicates cloture will fail on both of these bills. I wonder if he's right.
Oh no, it's Dodd.
Well they can't seem to get anything done, so it would not be all that surprising.
Hi gang---I am finally here...don't know for how long.
I am forgetting..what are the two cloture votes on??
I am not sure they are starting to resemble the House, bouncing from thing to thing.
Okay...thanks, I will see if I can find out..
As far as I can gather, Teddy has stumbled onto a new and ashtonishing truth...Republicans are using medical malpractice liability legislation to enrich Big Healthcare :-)
Hey, Lisa....haven't seen you here for awhile...good to see you.
Thanks...glad you warned me about Teddy---I an really, really not interested in anything he has to say.
I am glad you are helping her...
My memory of history is rusty...and history was my favorite subject after PE!!! LOL
Hi, sleuth. I had to run out for some mulch. There are 2 bills up for a cloture vote, both of which deal with limiting damage awards in medical malpractice suits.
Jackson was your typical idiot democrat who claimed to be for the common man ... they proceeded to screw everything up and the common man got screwed over
