Ahhhh, I get it now. I don't trust Biden, but this is not the mischievous thing I originally thought it was.
No it wasn't...but it was a great vehicle for him to get up an bloviate all over the Senate...and give his "foreign policy" part of his campaign speech a tryout.
Luckily, the House version is about 1 BILLION dollars less than what President Bush asked for...so I am counting on them to either cut this Senate bill down to their level...or President Bush following through on his promise to veto..
AND, I can hear Tony Snow in President Bush's ear right now..."you have to veto...if for no other reason than to get THAT monkey off your back about you not vetoeing even ONE bill".....LOL
When I saw that my Senators voted FOR this lousy bill...I was hoping that it was a setup to make Bush look good...go along with a HUGH bill, just so Bush will "look good" by vetoing it....but, I don't think that is it, which is a darn shame.
.
Give em heck Mo1!!!

9:30 a.m.: Convene and begin a period of morning business.
Previous Meeting
Thursday, May 4, 2006
The Senate convened at 9:30 a.m. and adjourned at 6:32 p.m. Four record votes were taken.
WOW .. they are actually showing up for work on a Friday?
That's why I'm a bit late on the ping. Didn't think they were in today.
I've been watching on and off since the start. Frist gave the most boring speech I think I ever heard. I can't even remember what it was about. The floor is open for speeches all day. I want to see if the Swimmer dares to show his face.
I am at my daughter's house --so I will be in and out also...
I saw Dorgan for a few minutes...but luckily didn't hear Frist...(he really needs to give up running for POTUS)
If he sticks with his run none of us will need any Ambien.
I checked the C-span schedule for tomorrow and on C-span 3 the dems are having one of their "pretend" hearings, where only Dems are the "questioners"...about the Gas prices and the mean old energy companies...
Also..John Podesta and his group is having a forum on C-span in the morning about the "corruption in Washington"...
Ah...what a way to start the week...huh??? LOL
The dems hearing on 3 is at 1:30 EDT...
The Podesta mess is on at 12:30 EDT..
I did not see the White House Briefing actually on the schedule...so we will just have to watch for it on the news channels for Tony's first day, I guess.
thank for the heads up

1:00 p.m.: Convene and resume consideration of the motion to proceed to S. 22, the Medical Malpractice Bill.
Previous Meeting

The Senate convened at 9:30 a.m. and adjourned at 1:09 p.m. No record votes were taken.
Reid is up now
He goes on to say that if this tort reform passes poor whatsername would not have been able to buy a new house trailer. I doubt that, but I need to find out just what the bill does. I thought they were just trying to put some reasonable cap on awards in excess of actual damages.
I take it Harry handled this case. What was his cut, i.e., how much did whatsername not get because of Harry's take? (I think her name is Billy Robinson.)
Apparently, the pain and suffering cap is $250,000 in the case of an individual defendant and $750,000 where there are multiple defendants. How much do those house trailers cost?
