FLASHBACK: PROSECUTOR BLUFFED 'LIMBAUGH COMMITTED AT LEAST 10 FELONIES'

FLASHBACK: PROSECUTOR BLUFFED 'LIMBAUGH COMMITTED AT LEAST 10 FELONIES' Sun Apr 30 2006 17:15:30 ET

Palm Beach County prosecutors rejected an overture in 2004 from Rush Limbaugh's attorneys that would have allowed the nation's top talkshow host to enter drug rehabilitation, rather than face criminal charges for prescription drug abuse.

Prosecutors, at the time, claimed they had evidence that Limbaugh committed at least 10 felonies!

It now appears James Martz, the prosecutor who headed the investigation into Limbaugh's prescription drug use, was bluffing when he said that medical records "indicate evidence that would support in excess of 10 felony counts for violations."

Prosecutors said Limbaugh, in any deal, would have to plead guilty to doctor shopping, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

[Prosecutors also suggested at the time that Limbaugh may have been involved in illegal money laundering.]

In an anticlimactic Florida finish, Limbaugh today will respond that he is "not guilty" of a single charge of fraud for concealing information to obtain a prescription -- and in 18 months the charge will be dropped and the record expunged.

The case of the vanishing evidence...

Is this grounds for a counter suit?

Seeing as how the man was arrested and pled guilty, I don't see how.

After 18 months --- or less, I hope. I hope Rush OWNS the Inquirer, et.al/. after this is all said and done.

I would hope a defamation suit would be filed. At least file an ethics complaint.

He pled NOT GUILTY.

And he wasn't ARRESTED.

Other than that, your post was correct.

How about if Mark Levin moves to Palm Beach county and runs against this Martz DA guy?

My understanding is that he pled not guilty.

Even Newsweek had an article posted today on FR about how Limbaugh wasn't arrested, despite the mis-reporting by the rest of the MSM. And he plead not guilty. I was quite surprised that Newsweek worked to be so technically correct in this matter.

Rush already committed to a deal and agreed to pay $30,000 to the state.

So, all of this is moot. Rush can't counter-sue or anything. He got screwed, bottom line.

He pled not guilty. This agreement is just a formailty where the paperwork of the charge sits with the court for 18 months. If Limbaugh abides by his part of the agreement, the paperwork is then withdrawn from the court.

No conviction. No criminal record.

Actually, Rush volunteered to pay the $30,000 to the state. The prosecution did not ask him to do this. It was a good move on Rush's part.

I believe Rush will keep quiet about this whole ordeal until the 18 months has elapsed and then will pounce on this prosecuter (persecuter).

"Seeing as how the man was arrested and pled guilty, I don't see how."

You have no excuse not to have your facts straight -- you've been here since 1998.

Rush Limbaugh Reaches Settlement with Prosecutors [Persecutors] Friday, April 28, 2006

Rush Limbaugh's attorney has issued a statement announcing a settlement of the Florida prosecutor's investigation into alleged doctor shopping by Rush Limbaugh.

"...Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State...." ~ Roy Black

What happened to the money laundering charge? They had Rush meeting people in parking lots and laundering cash, etc.

I hate it when snotty people overlook the same type of behavior in some that they try to use to hang those they disagree with.

This is a great hypocrisy and could be my number one pet peave. Such hypocrisy by those who in truth hate Limbaugh for political reasons.

Snivelers do not like Rush's politics, so they now have a chance to pretend their dislike is actually for righteous principles of morality.

That is dishonesty in the worst way and increases my disdain for them much more than any disdain for perscription shopping even if the charge is true.

This DEMOCRAT PROSEUCTOR. I think this is somehting we all need to remember this Nov when we vote. If you are unhappy with the GOP and BUSH, staying home and not voting or voting third party may allow the DEMS to gain control. If you are unhappy now with gas prices, etc. wait until the DEMS are in power and they raise our taxes (how are you going to buy gas then with less money in your pocket) and pass laws that set back the conservative movement even further.
