Ping.
I was never awarded a military honor that I didn't deserve or earn. I am very proud of those that I did earn. I detest and abhor those that fake their honors. Yes, that means you, Kerry.
This stinks. I would NEVER consider claiming an honor that was not mine by right.
Amen!
Sadly, Kerry is just one of several politicians whose actual service falls short of claimed service....
Kerry STILL hasn't signed his SF180 to release ALL his records to the public..
Kerry LIED, commited fraud, perjured himself, betrayed his shipmates and country, slandered my generation and McCAIN STOOD WITH KERRY against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth....
Semper Fi
I got got my first MOH when I was a Green Beret in the Navy, then the President made me start a super secret group of super killers, we were authorized to kill anybody if they found out about us.
It's OK if I tell you guys but don't let it out to the general public.
I once gave President Kerry a hat when we were on a secret mission in Cambodia, so I know he is cool.
Those that brag about their Medal of Honor are most least to have what it takes to actually earn one. My father knew two(2) Medal of Honor holders. He said neither mentioned the medal or the circumstances around why they were awarded the highest of all honors.
Many years ago, when I was working at Army Selection Boards, it never ceased to amaze me to see the number of officers (I'm sure the same situation existed at the enlisted side of the house) who were wearing awards and decorations they had not earned. Most board members became very good at picking out discrepancies between the paper Officer Record Brief (ORB) and the official Army photograph.
People who wear medals they have not earned are close, psychologically, to shop lifters.
Many Liberals who call in to the talk shows start out with the lie that they are veterans. They do it in an attempt to try to establish some kind of credibility before they spew their drug-induced rants against America. When a caller needs to say, "I'm a veteran," I normally take what they say with a grain of salt. He/she is probably lying. It's the same as when they say, "I'm a Republican who voted for Bush BUT...." It's bovine scatology.
Bingo.
There is a MOH recipient here in Midland that worked for me. (He's real; on the list of 103.)
In Texas, you get a free (or discounted) license plate with which you can go through some tolls free, and you used to be able to park at the airport for free.
He wouldn't get it, 'cause he didn't want to be asked questions.
Not true. There is nothing that can diminish the meaning of the awards that were earned.
My uncle was a WWII Veteran. He died a couple years ago at the age of 82. I knew he was a D-Day Normandy Beach survivor and he was also part of the Battle of the Bulge. He never really spoke of the war. I also respected him for being a part of America's Greatest Generation.
It was only after his death during his memorial service with military honors that I learned he was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism. He received it for storming a Nazi machine-gun nest on D-Day.
He never ever mentioned it when he was alive...
He was truly an American Hero and an Honorable Man.
Mitchell Paige (USMC Guadalcanal - died three or so years ago) made sort of a second career of exposing phonies in this category. He told me he even had some specific federal agents (FBI?...I don't really recall) at his disposal, if needed, once he and his network busted someone.
I once knew an officer who wore the Good Conduct Medal on his uniform. Not the only way an officer can earn a Good Conduct Medal is to have been former enlisted. This young officer did not know that the award was only for enlisted; he thought that since he hadn't screwed up that he was entitled to wear the award. I don't think his career ever fully recovered.
I despise military imposters. A friend of mine in the Marines gave me a USMC sweatshirt as a gift. I don't wear it outside the house.
C'mon now, that's carrying your respect for military heroes to a ridiculous extreme. This is not part of the official uniform. Nobody is going to mistake you for a real Marine if you are out jogging in a Marine Corps sweatshirt.

with 50% of the country believing his lies. Enough said.
