An INVESTOR is one who has a clearly defined goal for each group of securities, with established sell and buy points and the ability to stick to that plan.
When my sell points are triggered, I sell.
When my stop loss points are triggered, I sell.
When my buy in points are triggered, I buy in.
When the investment climate changes, I buy in.
Even though you don't articulate it here, your investment managers do that exact same thing, no matter if it be a mutual or bond fund, a hedge fund, or an investment group, and all according to the imperatives of that particular plan.

Everything changes, everything in economics is in flux at all times, in a most chaotic (butterfly effect) way and you simply must establish certain way points in the trend and act accordingly.
Plan accordingly, or pay others to do the same.
