PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush attended St. John's Church this morning, as is their custom when spending the weekend at the White House. Last night they attended the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner, where the President and his "alter ego," comedian Steve Bridges, stole the show.
The best review I found is on USA Today's website. Since I'm not sure how much of their material we can excerpt, I'll just provide a link. The article includes a nearly complete transcript of the President's and Mrs. Bridges routine.

No rush :)
Thank you in advance.

See you later, Wolfstar. Thank you for the great weekend Doses :)
Oh, so that's how she keeps staying on. Her family has an organization to collect votes. She is so awful that I've wished there was an option to call in to vote someone off.
THE PRESIDENT AND HIS ALTER EGO WERE AWESOME LAST EVENING and so was Wolfstar and the entire DOSE family: 1,282 comments and 22,536 views. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
BTW: Colbert got only one thing right last night . . .
"At the Bloomberg News post-show party, with guests including Desperate Housewives star James Denton, ER's Maura Tierney, Terence Howard, Ron Silver and others, COLBERT was almost the last person to arrive. He seemed pleased with his performance.
"I had a great time. THE PRESIDENT KILLED. HE'S A TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW -- AT ALL TIMES. IT'LL BE TOUGH FOR WHOEVER COMES IN 2008, TOO." [Yes it will, Mr. Colbert, yes it will!]

[I'll return later this evening to post my MUST READS!]
"HE'S A TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW -- AT ALL TIMES. IT'LL BE TOUGH FOR WHOEVER COMES IN 2008, TOO."
He IS right about this.
One of my other favorite moments what the Reagan film - when Nancy came up to the podium with Ron and he kept asking her to say some nice things about the press - I laughed so hard.
Repubs really do have a better sence of humor. I thought Colbert was a bomb!
Check CSPAN - I think it reruns today - about now.
Can you tell me exactly when C-span is rerunning the Dinner?
I agree - I didn't think he was funny at all - and I didn't hear much approval from the audience either.
If anyone has a link to the video of this dinner could they please post it.
I think the dems even lie to themselves. Clearly the comedian WASN'T.
Thanks!
I'm voting for Chris.
And .. that law was what resulted in a lot of family farms being lost. After the father's death, the taxes wiped out the working capital of the farm, and the families were forced to sell it to pay the taxes.
THAT IS A CRIME THE DEMOCRATS HAVE NEVER HAD TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR!!
I fully believe Colbert's intention was to embarrass and humiliate the President, not amuse.
I was outraged while watching, still am for that matter.
It's not your money and you don't deserve it. It's their money and they have every right to it. When you get any increase in income, they deserve their share.
As far as the congress-critters are concerned, all money belongs to the government and only the government knows how to be responsible with its spending.
Next thing you know, we will all be getting an allowance and those that produce/earn the most will get the least because those who don't produce/earn need it more!
You can watch the entire 'routine' at MSNBC's website (occasionally, even this network does something right):
[You don't get the great close-ups on this video, but you do get the hilarious interchange!]

After searching, I found a video. It is priceless!

Well, I'll take IL DIVO any day of the week. They're going to be in San Diego in June - and when I tried to get tickets - they were almost already sold out. I'm bummed.
