Just building a fence many politicians refuse to build.

Excellent idea. They should round up all the illegal aliens they can find to help them build it, then make sure the last part to get finished is on the south side of the fence.

The Mexicans in this country legally are being blinded by this.
Don't they realize that by not securing the borders they are sentencing themselves to forever be harassed about their status as residents.
They should take a good look around at blacks and Asians who aren't being questioned about their legal status because they are not presumed to have sneaked in under the cover of darkness.
If we build a good fence and employ serious security at the border, the day will come when we will assume that the Mexicans who are here must have come legally and the harassment will stop.
I can't believe they don't understand this.

"Tim Donnelly, the group's leader, said volunteers ate apple pie and hot dogs as they worked on the fence, which was connected to an existing 12-foot high fence previously built by the federal government."
Don't be surprised if the govt comes in and tears down the new fence. I won't be.

If they do and it gets widely publicized can you say President Tancredo?

Well, that's not going to happen. We're not going to be mining the border and killing people crossing it illegally. It's still a misdemeanor, after all.
Your suggestion goes beyond the threat.

All of 'em I'm seeing which are a lot...I look at them and wonder if they came to this country legally. In fact, until this all started with their protest, I paid little attention to the numbers of them around me. Now that's all I notice.

Misdemeanor or not, it's still a potential threat to national security and our economic stability, with transcends the legal mumbo jumbo. I have no problem whatsoever mining our entire border with Me-hi-co. If you think my suggestion goes beyond the threat perhaps you should start "widening your scan" of the big picture.

I have a pretty good understanding of the big picture. I spent most of my 60 years in agricultural towns in California. I've worked alongside legal and illegal immigrants.
I'd like to see all the illegal immigrants deported. That said, I don't wish them dead. You apparently do. We differ strongly on that count. I see your mine drawing is no longer on the thread. It looks like FR doesn't agree with you either.
