"He [Michael Graham] also mentioned my abridgement of First Amendment rights, i.e. talking about campaign finance reform....I know that money corrupts....I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I'd rather have the clean government."

One (two-part) comment:
Has W even made a half hearted threat to VETO any tripe McCain dreams up including Campaign finance reform?
First, why would he threaten to veto the Incumbent Protection Act? Especially when his "team" holds the majority?
Second, the further along he gets into the "final lap" of his administration, the more certain it becomes that he will never veto anything, period.
I am convinced that there is a pathology at work. Some kind of adolescent deal, where he's gonna show 'em, he'll show 'em that he's no quitter. It's like the kid who shows up for school, rain or shine, healthy or sick as a dog (and infecting hundreds of students and teachers!), so that at the end of the year, he can get that gold star, pat on the back, and have his name called out for having a perfect attendance record. Even one absence, no matter how justified, would mean NO award!
That's a mightly low horizon, isn't it. It's the kind of thing you see with kids who were raised by cold, demanding, distant parents, who never quite got that "nurturing" thing going. (As an aside, it might also explain the perverse fixation on "compassionate conservatism", which, as a slogan, is about as dandy as "Economic Democracy", which as you will recall, was Clinton's Chief Economic Advisor Derek Shearer's term for "Socialism", which he decided needed a new monica... um, "moniker". because the word "Socialism" had certain "negative connotations" in this country.)
It's not just angst-driven teenagers and Presidents of the United States that exhibit this behavior. You'll also see it with the poor downtrodden janitor who pushes his mop and pail day in and day out, year after year, constantly walking past custom-tailored executives who look down their noses at him (if they even see him at all), who, to show the world that he's just as good as "those guys" (if not better), shows up for work regardless of his health, the weather, and so forth, so that after 30 years of drudgery, he can get a genuine gold-plated ballpoint pen with the company logo, and a rubber-stamped "certificate" for a "perfect work attendance record."
Everyone needs a dream. Everyone needs a vision. How sad... how utterly sad that some folks latch onto something like that as their enduring legacy. ("Look, kids... see that man in the picture? That was your grampaw. He never missed a day of work. Nope, not a single one. No, he didn't get a reward for that, or a raise, or a pension or anything, but he did get a nice card and a pen when he retired, right before he went to the nursing home. And that's what really matters in life -- getting the recognition for a perfect record like that!")
Yeah, sure.
I think the McCain haters oughta try to remember something. Shrub can't run again. And even if he could, McCain has something shrub never got from his nice, NWO backgound in some Maine estate, or from running his little baseball team.
McCain has a pair that spent years in a camp.
We have a winner!
John McCain corruptly panders to the arrogance of journalism. John McCain was accused of corruption in the "Keating Five" scandal. Ever since the "Keating Five" scandal, John McCain has been ruthless about preventing anyone from accusing McCain of corruption. He passed McCain-Feingold to outlaw our freedom to criticize him, simultaneously pandering to journalism to prevent them from criticizing him.
This is THE definitive explanation of the phenomenon known as "John McCain"!
This paragraph should go front and center on the front page of every conservative website!
You done good, friend. You done real good!
I've never seen side-by-side photos of the two of them in that pose -- but I'd sure like to see something like that!
That's just Phase One.
Phase Two will be a requirement for the ISPs to provide real-time access to the data as it's logged. Bandwidth is cheap -- but not as cheap as freedom.
The technology and infrastructure is already to the point tht it's feasible to implement NOW. And they'll get it, too. Oh, sure, first pass there'll be a bit of an outrage -- so, they'll back off for a few months, and then slip it into the middle of a huge bill, a few hundred pages into the "NO ONE reads this far into the gobledegook" section of the bill. A few lines of fine print slipped in as an amendment to an unrelated bill, with a different name from the original, and there ya go. All hail Our Glorious Leaders!
I'm expecting them to do something similar with their demands for search engine query data. After "burdening" the vendors with a series of increasingly "PITA" datamining demands, they'll finally say, "Look, it'll be easier for all of us -- and less expensive too -- if you simply echo the queries to us as they arrive. You won't need to hassle with logs, comply with picayune requests for all different kinds of datamining... it'll be strictly "set it and forget it" mode. Just turn on the hose, and let us take care of the nitty gritty!"
Any shred of credibility that McCain may have had with me is lost forever with that statement. God help this nation if the 2008 ticket is Hillary! vs McCaine (mispelling intentional, now who stole the strawberries).
He actually said that?
The hose and senate rules are so screwed up {purposefully so} No person and especially not out elected can be certain what law is being enacted when. The amendments to bills unless specifically related to the title of the bill should not be allowed. Plenty of change needs to come. There are too many lawyers in office. Write the bills in layman's terms short, simple, and to the point. No bill except the federal budget should be over 4-5 pages long either. If they want more bills write another one. It's not wise to sign your name to what you haven't read first yet our elected do just that very thing day after day.
Well ones things for certain if they have time on their hands to write some of the pathetic stuff written in the past 10 years then they have far too much time in session. It should at least be cut in half then as well as their pay.
>>McCain is the American Hugo Chavez.<<
McCain is a turd. Pure and simple; a turd.
McCain is in a comfortable lead at 40% at Tradesports.com. No sign of any selloff. Allen is in a distant second place at 22%, Romney is at 14%, and Guiliani at 10%. Rice is in fifth place at 6%.
"Well, I'd rather McCain just shut the hell up and retire."
Keep him talking...he just digs his grave deeper and deeper.
unbelievable.
"The Pubbie nominee will be either Romney or Allen."
Allen?

Pay special attention on how he stands on the second amendment and gun ownership. I cannot back anyone that feels the way he does on this one issue alone.
Look at his answer on topic 10 ..Strongly Oppose means you believe: More guns mean more killing. Limit availability of guns by whatever means are effective. The 2nd amendment does not mean an unlimited right to any and all firearms.
As though you of all people, a ComPost-chewing dung beetle who predicted a President Kerry, have any foresight into presidential elections...
Interesting, as well as telling, that he sees the two as mutually exclusive.
In a nutshell, Johnny boy thinks it's a choice between hypocritical speech, corruption (which apparently in his eyes, only "he" has nobly taken to task) or a "clean" government, again defined by his highness. Not a mention about how his "noble" law illegally and unconstitutionally clamps what and when we can say it. Oh, Johnny-boy, if that were the all-of-the-world, it's a wonder we ever survived the other 229 years of our Nation's existence... we didn't have you to protect us from the corruption that surely existed back then!
Senator McCain, I know you or one of your supporting hacks will be sure to read any comments about this, simply 'cause you're a RINO politico hack, yourself. Here's some news for you: Corruption is a sin that never truly goes away, because its seed can be found in each human breast. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT, dividing power among the three branches so that WE the PEOPLE can LIMIT the power of corruption and/or it's spread over us, and so that WE can exercise our LEGITIMATE RIGHT to keep DEMAGOGUES like Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore and YOU out of the White House.
It's bad enough, Senator, that you are either too damned foolish or truly do not care a whit about this to see that your self-congratulatory pat-on-the-back for the finance law is not a step towards (your definition of...) "clean" government, but rather a symptom of the disease - your act muzzled the People, and did nothing to "clean" the special interest affects from our political process - does "527" jog any thoughts, Senator? Does the name George Soros ring a bell?
One last time, Senator, in caps so you can Read. It. Slowly. And. Clearly...
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
