"He [Michael Graham] also mentioned my abridgement of First Amendment rights, i.e. talking about campaign finance reform....I know that money corrupts....I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I'd rather have the clean government."

"Always WRONG! Because, even if the corruption is egregious, freedom of speech allows the electorate to a.) become aware of the problem and b.) do something about it. "
Not quite: on paper the USSR of thucking memory had the freedom of speech. What it was in reality, and the epic degree of corruption there, is a completely different story. OTOH, history knows of a few [very few] kings who - while obviously not allowing freedom of speech - were given sobriquets "the good", precisely because their governments were significantly cleaner than the contemporary norm. Thus, it is indeed a matter of degree, and therefore not "always wrong".

"I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected" - John McCain
And his sentiments regarding the 2nd Amendment are identical. (Gun Owners of America accurately gave him an F- grade).
This commie - yes, commie - SOB has to be kept as far away from the GOP nomination as possible.

So who are you voting for as of now then?

to the first line of the poster #60 -
"I gave him money against Bush...McCain is an honorable and honest man." You and others shot back against them with things like Is that you, Mr. Rather?
C'mon guys - don't play liberal press and take out of context. the poster finished with
It requires calm, mature, and informed good judgment, animated by a curious, and vigorous, mind. On that score, McCain does not fit the bill. Plus he is too freaking old for POTUS. If that is "ageism," sue me.

Clearly you are hellen keller. Hardly. Everyone at our table that wasn't in some way on the Allen payroll thought his speech was pathetic.
Stale football metaphors. An arrogant presumption that we were all 'on his team'.

He's a pig in a poke. Are you referring to moi, or Allen, or both. :) I hope you are having a good evening. It is odd how we collude and collide. That is part of what makes the public square interesting.

So who are you voting for as of now then? Well, since there are exactly 'zero' declared candidates, I don't think I'm unusual in that I don't have one yet.
But I can assure you of this: The candidate I support will be truly pro-life, and won't believe in imaginary (virtual) walls on the Mexican border.

"Sure hope someone hangs onto that video clip" I just sent it to Rush, Mike Reagan, Sean Hannity, Hugh Hewitt, Laura Ingraham, O'Reilly, and my local talk show hosts.
To: Torie
Plus he is too freaking old for POTUS. McCain will be 72 in '08. Reagan was 73 when he started his 2nd term. Was the Gipper "too freaking old" as well?
McCain isn't too freaking old, he's too freaking insane/liberal.

"...money corrupts..."
McCain, not all are corrupted by money. Not only money, but power, greed, pride, also corrupt.
Were we to curtail our liberties based upon that which can corrupt, we would all be locked up and busy acting as jailers for one another.
You've proved, sir, that you cannot be trusted with any more power than you already have.

You can bet all of mccain's opponents have downloaded it and are holding onto it for 2008. Sure hope so.
Gad, I think "We the People" need to take the bull by the horns and form committee to seriously get out there and find a REAL conservative for a candidate - Then work like h -e- double L to get them elected

It is the First Amendment that allows us to speak out against corrupt government. This incredibly stupid by McCain.

There is a way that we can clean up our Government once and for all. However, the Congress would never even consider, let alone pass, such a law. The only way would be for the people of America to force it on them by a national referendum. Unfortunately, I doubt that that will happen either. Nevertheless it doesn't hurt to dream that some day America might return to its historical and Constitutional foundation. The legislation of three simple rules would return the power of the government to
We The People.
Rule #1. Only people eligible to vote are allowed to give money to a political candidate.
Rule #2. A person can only give money to a political candidate for whom he or she is eligible to vote.
Rule #3. A reasonable limit would be set on the amount of money that an individual could give.
For a complete consideration of the results of these three simple rules see:
