Movie star JAKE GYLLENHAAL has shocked American Gulf War veterans by joking they did nothing but "masturbate" during their time in the desert in 1991.
The cheeky 25-year-old stars in JARHEAD, a movie exposing the US soldiers' lack of combat in the Middle Eastern conflict.
He said, "The US soldiers were sent to the desert for 122 days and they sat in the same tent and did nothing, except a little too much masturbating."

There's a certain Beavis and Butthead quality to this remark. I can almost hear the "hehehe" afterwards. I suppose it was meant to have shock value, but I'm only thinking "teenager," myself.

I am smiling as I think of someone taking a baseball bat to this anti-American, gay loving, Summer's Eve container!

The Gulf War was an early defining point for me as an American. I remember the day that ground operations were launched. We were in our local city hall for some function at the time when an announcement came from the front. "Folks, we just received word that the ground war has begun ." Everyone knew what it meant. There was a somber silence holding the room captive for a few seconds. Then, the man sitting across from me, an older guy from the neighborhood, clenched his fist and gritted his teeth ever so slightly, saying, "Give 'em hell."

It gives me goosebumps to this day.

Jake was 10 years old when the Battle of 73 Easting was fought. This pampered darling ought to turn in his Film Actors' Guild card for a library card before he again opens his mouth. And I don't even want to think about what's been in it.

He didn't follow it up with the standard, "not that there's anything wrong with that."

Yeah. In my experience, there was more muttering and general, though low-key, support.

    According to
The World Almanac, he was born 12/19/1980, so he was 9 or 10 years old during the time period he's commenting on.
Jake Gyllenhaal = Beavis & Butthead for Dummies.

To: Billthedrill
    Fortunately, his
Humpback movie made a big splash before I had to make a decision about seeing
Jarhead.
Heath Ledger and Gyllenhaal - what a pair of prize idiots! Let's damage our careers for the sake of ahhhrt, Jake!
I'll steer clear of their schmaltz for the rest of my life.

Gyllenhall---Hollyweird pukeman. Plus he's ugly. Fortunately his daddy/mommy got him into show business. His mother was once married to the historian Eric Foner--BIGTIME leftie! He made it into Bernard Goldberg's personal list of 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America in 2005.

My husband said they actually started going in before the President gave the word. They got started and then were told to stop until the word was passed. I remembered being scared to death. I hadn't seen him in almost a year. He's since been back three times, the last time being medavac'd out. Praise the Lord he's alive. We are retired now, but he's got some stories!

Indeed. Gulf War vets are just as good as veterans of all the other wars as far as I'm concerned. We need to keep them around so that they aren't forgotten.

What is a Gyllenhall? Sounds like some sort grey market air conditioner.
Reminds of that schmuck in Black Hawk Down who after the film was released, bad mouthed the military. I hope the next Spiderman sinks like a stone.
