Many Hosting Matters-hosted blogs are down--including Instapundit, Power Line, Hugh Hewitt, and tons of others large and small. Hosting Matters' own website is also down.
Blogger Chuck Simmins e-mails:
Denial of service attack on Hosting Matters. Most, if not all, their hosted sites are down. Attack is originating internationally. Haven't been able to confirm. But stay tuned.

I’ve received quite a few emails this morning from people having trouble getting to blogs like Power Line and Captain’s Quarters. The reason for the problem: Hosting Matters is experiencing a Denial of Service attack. They’re working to block it now.

Although LGF is also at Hosting Matters, we were moved to a different network after experiencing a similar attack. (That’s why we’re still up.)

I may have spoken too soon; some parts of the LGF system are beginning to act a bit flaky.
On a possibly related noted, Aaron's CC blog has been hacked several times over the last month, reportedly by cyberjihadis mad at his provocative images. His site is also down, though I'm not sure it's a Hosting Matters blog. Does anyone know?

Well, we know who the target is, and we know where the likely source of the attack originates...and I sincerely doubt that country's leadership has the least bit of concern for extraditing over something like this. Stacy - Hosting Matters, Inc.

I greatly appreciated all the blogosphere's support when the cyberjihadis took down my site down over the Mohammed Cartoons. If you're down, please send me an e-mail and I'll keep a list here of all those affected. We are all affected by cyberterrorist tactics, wherever they may originate.

Yikes, the listed blogs and FR are the heart and soul of the conservative Internet.
If foreign terrorists can take it down, the Democrat Party operatives won't be far behind. Watch for hijacks just before the elections.

Ummmm - CyberJihadis REALLY don't want to go there. I mean, REALLY.
I noticed problems earlier, and I thought maybe DOS myself. Perhaps we ought to take it as a compliment that they think we are such a threat as to need to be shut down -

WAS EMAILING SOMEONE A FEW MONTHS AGO LATE AT NIGHT AND DID A SPOOF ON A MUSLIM NAME IN MY SUBJECT BOX. I WENT BACK A LITTLE LATER TO USE THE COMPUTER AND MY YAHOO EMAIL ACCOUNT WAS CANCELLED. TRIED FOR HOURS TO CONTACT SOMEONE BUT TO NO AVAIL. CALLED YAHOO (SAN FRANCISCO?)THE NEXT MORNING ABOUT IT AND THEY WERE TOTALLY IN THE DARK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. MY ACCOUNT WAS RE-INSTATED BUT NO SEEMED TO KNOW WHY OR HAVE AND EXPLANATION. WAS TOLD LATER BY A FAMILY MEMBER THAT IS IN THE BUSINESS THAT ALL "HELP DESK" AND EMAIL MONITORING SHIFTS TO ASIAN COUNTRIES AFTER A CERTAIN HOUR HERE. POINT: THEY ARE IN CONTROL AND WE DON'T KNOW IT.
Uncle Remus wrote a tale about a tar-baby. This tale has a moral story that applies directly to the current events. There is a reason that the activities are allowed to continue. The end analysis of capabilities and tactics will result in a wealth of exploitable vulnerabilities of the systems in sand land.
We do you say John, are we amongst those being pounded? If so, it looks like your efforts at hardening the system seem to be pretty darn effective, congratulations.
I'm not saying it isn't possible but being in the business I HIGHLY doubt it. Logistically it's just not feasible watching that many accounts etc. etc. etc.
