According to US policy which has been in place for decades, the United States would use ultimate force in retaliation for a nuclear attack. Iran - right now, with the situation the way it is - might well be held responsible and thus subject to that retaliation.

I know Islamists love to rattle their little sabres, but this is a dangerous game. We have a bit more practice in the nuclear warfare department than the Paclids...err...jihadists.

A stupid threat like this one would be turning up the heat on IRAN, not intimidating the US.
