AN OPEN LETTER FROM PRESIDENTIAL CANDICATE JOHN COX
www.cox2008.com ^ | 04/28/06 | Webmaster

Posted on 04/27/2006 10:07:58 PM PDT by jimluke01

Fellow Republicans,

As we enter this critical 2006 election year, and look forward to the historic changes 2008 will bring, it is vitally important that we as conservatives don't lose sight of the things that have brought us this far.

If we want the American people to continue to entrust us with leadership, we must act once again in accordance with the great principles of Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. We must demonstrate that we have the understanding and vision to make progress and lead the country forward boldly and successfully in these dangerous times.

Wherever corruption has crept in, of individuals or of purpose, our job is to fight it. We must prove our worthiness by managing the affairs of our own Party and movement in an honorable fashion. While the opposition may wink at corruption in their ranks, we never should.

We must empower a new generation of leadership in the GOP. We must continue to recruit, train and equip principled, energetic men and women at every level of government, business, media and academics. We need them in the game and prepared for the hard battles ahead.

America is faced with external threats perhaps greater than those of earlier generations. The enemies of freedom have demonstrated a malicious willingness to bring great harm to our people and to our national interests. Global terrorism must be confronted head-on and with the full force of our determination and of our might as a people, if we and our allies are to survive.

I am fully committed to our men and women in uniform and to their mission. They deserve the best we can offer and they deserve our prayers and our eternal gratitude.

At the same time, we must keep our most important security commitment at home through greater intelligence and enforcing our laws against illegal immigration. We welcome people to our country who want to be citizens and contribute to the American Dream, just as my ancestors did over a century ago. We also need the political will to assure that those that come here become Americans and believe in their future as Americans, not as guest workers.

We must deal with all of these threats to our security and freedom, both from abroad and from within.

In order to preserve the values that we as Americans hold dear, we must defeat those who undermine our God-given rights to life, liberty and private property, and who subvert the most basic and important institution of all: the family.

Other pressing matters continue to be ignored by career politicians in Washington. Our income tax system is irretrievably broken. Fundamental reform is long overdue.

Spending is out of control. Professional politicians use it to buy votes and that has to stop.

Social Security and Medicare need serious attention before demographic realities make them untenable and overly burdensome to our children and grandchildren.

We are faced with a judicial branch that has lost sight of its constitutional mandate to judge according to the law, and not to legislate. We should resolve issues with reasoned debate and principles, not judicial pronouncements that lack popular will.

On every front, we must find ways to return power and control to the local level and to the individual. If we can expend American blood and treasure to obtain freedom for others, certainly we can do what it takes to further the cause of freedom and self-government here at home!

My intent is to run in 2008 as a candidate for the Presidency of the United States. I am committed to positive change and know that it only comes through individual initiative.

To paraphrase Ronald Reagan: “There is no limit to what we can accomplish, if we don’t care who gets the credit.”

Let’s work together and get the job done!

For America,

John Cox

George Allen is functionally pro-choice, supporting abortions up until 'viability' (98% of all abortions being committed now), and abortions for 'fetal abnormalities'. He's never getting a vote from me.

Had not heard that. Yet, I think it's now in the hands of Roberts, Thomas, Scalia, and Alito. If they can get Kennedy on board, or if Ginsberg or Stevens retires, it'll be out of the POTUS's lap and back to the states, where it belongs.

That's exactly when we most NEED a real pro-life President.

One last thing before I hit the sack: George Allen is also a squish on the borders. He's been all over the place. Endorsed amnesty not that long ago, and thinks the fence should be 'virtual', aka 'imaginary'.

Thanks for the conversation!

Always a pleasure, but I think the nomination is Allen's, if he'll stand up for conservative values. I know he's got it in him.

An inexperienced man... Who has experience? A bunch of ivy league lawyers who sit around spending their time discussing how best to fool us this term? Polish and packaging is what the pubs have to sell at this point.. not much different than the dims save for the hint of morality they project but find offensive. As long as you keep settling for the crap they shove at you instead of demanding what you want, you'll have the crap they shove at you. Should have learned that from history if nothing else.. but here we are. Maybe next time we'll have better. That's what everyone says every two years.
Tell me - when does "next time" get here?

PRESIDENTIAL CANDICATE JOHN COX

If you ask really nicely, the mods will usually fix headlines.

By the way, who is John Cox?

"A 3rd party or indie Republican may actually have a chance in 2008"

Not against the dems. Remember that they got nearly half the vote last time. A split in the Repubs would mean a win for the dems.

It's over.  Timid government loving Americans have lost the war and we have been occupied by a foreign country.  We are like frogs in boiling water...we waited too long to do anything about our borders and now the water is too hot to jump out of.

It did not take an invading army.  It did not take nuclear weapons.  It only took Political Correctness to overthrow our country and destroy the America that I once knew.  Where I live today you would never believe that it is in the United States.  For example, my sister-in-law went to Walmart yesterday to buy one of those nifty neat mother's day cards that speak to you and play a song AND SHE COULD NOT FIND ONE THAT WAS IN ENGLISH...THEY WERE ALL IN SPANISH!

The only thing important to the population now is sports, entertainment and government money in one form or another.  "Bread and circuses" did Rome in and now "bread, circuses and PC" have done us in.

I didn't say I wanted an experienced politician. I didn't see anything on his biography that indicated he has any military experience, which I think he needs when we are in the middle of a war. In fact, I didn't see anything that I considered to be a reason to give him a second look. I'm not interested in voting for an opportunist and this is the feeling his website left with me.

George Allen is weak on the Second Amendment. He voted YES on implementing CAFTA for Central America free-trade. (Jul 2005)

source:

George Allen on Gun Control:
Opposes absolute right to gun ownership. (Sep 2000)

This question (topic 10)is looking for your views on Second Amendment rights. His answer was:

Opposes absolute right to gun ownership:

Strongly Opposes topic 10:

Definition according to questionaire:

Strongly Oppose means you believe: More guns mean more killing. Limit availability of guns by whatever means are effective. The 2nd amendment does not mean an unlimited right to any and all firearms.

I grep for the words border and fence and if they ain't there it's over.

Those are there... but they are on the issues page on his website... not on the into letter page.

Cut and Pasted Below...

Winning the War, Supporting Our Troops…

John Cox firmly supports the President's policies in the War on Terrorism. A board member of his local USO chapter, John will effectively and actively support the men and women who are serving so honorably and capably in our armed forces.

John believes in the Reagan principle of peace through strength; we need to make sure we use diplomacy and involve the world as much as we can. But in the end, we may have to take the reins and make our point clear. The Bush doctrine of democracy must be maintained and we should use trade expansion and economic opportunity to bring the world along with us to peace. Our military has to be the best equipped and best trained. At the same time, we ought to develop a defensive space shield to help blunt potential nuclear attacks on us.

On terrorism, communication and infiltration are required to bring criminal conspirators to justice. John believes that we cannot inspect everyone and everything – that is no way to live or conduct an economy. We are better off using our resources to go after the criminals who would kill wantonly.

American Liberty, American Independence…

John Cox will always work to maintain our national sovereignty, and will fight against those who would hand our independence and power over to unelected international bureaucrats. He will fight to restore and defend constitutionally limited government. He believes strongly in fighting crime and defending the entire Bill of Rights including our Second Amendment right to defend our families, our communities, our nation, our property and ourselves.

The Inalienable Right to Life…

John Cox is Pro-Life and isn't afraid to lead on this important moral issue. Our founding documents guarantee the God-given right to life, and John is now and has always been committed to restoring America's respect for that right, whether at the beginning or end of life. He will always be a voice for the weakest and most helpless among us. As he was raised during his first five years by a working single mom, he understands the challenge and responsibility of children and the harm abortion does to women. John believes all children deserve protection, from conception to natural death.

Conservative Leadership…

John Cox is a national conservative leader. He has run for the U.S. Senate and has supported extensively the Republican National Committee and the Republican Senatorial Trust. He has served as President of the Cook County Republican Party and has worked many years to help elect Republican candidates, starting with his service on Jack Kemp’s Illinois steering committee in 1988.

The American Family…

John Cox is a defender of the American family as our most fundamental institution, and therefore stands opposed to gay “marriage” and ”civil unions,” and in support of the Federal Marriage Amendment. He is a very involved and dedicated father to his four wonderful daughters.

An Experienced Teacher…

John Cox is an experienced teacher with hands on classroom instruction. He is a former school board member who believes in educational choice and local control of our schools by parents and taxpayers. He also has a vision for, and an understanding of, the tremendous educational opportunities that will exist in the future for our children and grandchildren due to technological advances.

Fundamental Tax Reform…

John Cox believes that in the next decade, America must and will move to replace our complex and inefficient income tax system with a much fairer one based on consumption. As the first CPA to be elected President, he will educate Americans about this issue for as long as it takes to get the job done. Until that goal is reached, he will continue to work for further tax cuts and simplification within the current system. He has called for an immediate and permanent end to the ”death tax” which has forced so many families to sell off farms and businesses that have taken generations to build.

Judicial Reform…

John Cox is fed up with activist judges who are damaging America and its institutions by legislating their liberal agenda from the bench, and will appoint strict constructionist jurists to the courts. Important social issues should be decided in the legislatures, not in the courts by unelected judges.

Immigration Reform…

John Cox believes that America must regain control of its borders and institute an immigration policy that doesn't reward illegal behavior. A nation without an effective immigration policy cannot and will not be militarily or economically secure. John believes we need to penalize employers of illegal immigrants and enforce the law effectively. At the same time, he values legal immigration. He believes we need more working Americans to compete with China and India. We are nation of immigrants and should welcome anyone who wants to come to this country legally and become an American. A guest worker plan is wrong and doesn’t address the root problems – it is a short-term fix that won’t work.

Religious Freedom…

John Cox believes that religious freedom is a fundamental human right. America should be steadfast and sure in supporting the rights of individuals to express their religious beliefs in every corner of the world. John is a baptized Catholic who believes we need to welcome and embrace all persons of any religious belief; the First Amendment establishes freedom of religion not freedom from religion.

Free but Fair Trade…

John Cox supports free but fair trade policies. He believes that, as the world's largest economy, we must exercise our tremendous economic power to force our trading partners to open their markets to our goods and services. John believes that American business needs a level playing field with vast improvements necessary in our tax and regulatory systems. When Americans have that fair playing field, we can and will compete with anyone in the world.

The American Economy…

John Cox, a proven businessman, will strive to support our farmers, our small businesses and the working people. This is where most of our innovation and job creation takes place. Agriculture is a key industry; having a stable and safe domestic food supply is necessary for national security. Likewise, the more that our goods and services are produced domestically, the less we must depend on foreign sources. We must protect the earth, but environmental regulations must make sense to work and must be structured so that they are practical and help strengthen our economy.

C'mon, that pusillanimous phrase could have been uttered by John McCain, Hillary Clinton or George W. Bush. Running that through my politician bs translator comes out as "More of the same, no fence. Wink, wink."
