Well some cabbies refuse passengers carrying alcohol for religious reasons, while some pharmacists refuse filling prescriptions for contraceptives for religious reasons. Worst comparison ever!!

Yep, and you can't get a ham sammich at Caribou. That's why I drink my coffee at Dunn Bros.

You know what would be a lot of fun? Eat about five pounds of pigs feet, drink a couple of fifths of cherry vodka, and barf it all up inside some discriminating mujahideen's cab, whilst swivelling your head side-to-side, making sure you get it in all the nooks and crannies.

I'll be choosing my cabs carefully at MSP, from now on. I made the mistake of taking a cab in Atlanta driven by a Palestian once. Ever since then I rent my own car.

And I would you think of a word that means 'to terminate an innocent human life'.

Well, fight fire with fire...When looking for a cab, when one pulls up, looks inside. If it's a you know who....wave him off. Find another.

This has never, ever been a problem NYC where a large percentage of hacks are muslim. That's because it's illegal for a cab driver in NYC to refuse a fare. And all an angry rejected rider has to do is copy down the four-character cab number displayed on top of the cab, call the Taxi and Limousine Commission to complain, and the hack will be forced to spend an entire day hanging out at the T&LC office waiting for his arbitration hearing. Even if the complainant doesn't show up (and they often don't), the driver is out an entire day's salary.
And if the complainant does show up, and the driver ends up being found at fault more than once or twice, he'll lose his taxi license. The rules in NYC are very much skewed pro-rider.

Yes. With cherry vodka, too. Even I know how evil that stuff is! :-)

I don't want to ride in a cab driven by a Muslim. I will make sure to carry a bottle of Stoli with me when I travel.

"There's another consideration for the cab drivers. I would assume that their franchise is, by law, a "common carrier".
In which case, they have no right to refuse any fare. "
Why would you make that assumption when the article clearly says that cabbies can refuse a fare?

It's their prerogative.
You and several others have made this point. However, I don't think you're right. Taxis have a license to transport people and are, in effect, common carriers. This typically obliges them to accept any passenger to any destination within their licensed area unless the passenger appears to be disorderly or dangerous. Taxi drivers who refuse to take passengers to a rough part of town or pick up women (on the suspicion they're bad tippers) are rightly subject to discipline and punishment. If the driver does not want to accept the legal and ethical responsibilities, s/he should find another line of work and not victimize law-abiding persons in need of transportation.

A privately owned taxi business should be able to carry whoever they want to just like the Boy Scouts can say who can belong to their club. However, if the discriminating taxi company is blocking traffic or causing a safety hazard at the airport when they refuse passengers, the airport should have the right to correct this situation any way they can.
To: ButThreeLeftsDo
Hey, it's their right to act like religious elitists, but that doesn't mean it's mannerly.
