A growing problem at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport is making it difficult for some air passengers to catch cabs.
Some cab drivers are refusing to take passengers because they are carrying alcohol, such as bottles of wine or cases of beer, which conflicts with their religious beliefs.
"He loaded our luggage into the trunk, he saw our box carrying duty free liquor from Jamaica and told us he would have to take another cab,” says passenger Greg Kline.
Kline did not easily find another cab.
"We approached the next cab in line, he just closed the cab and took off without a passenger, as did the one next to him,” he says.
Airport staff say Muslim drivers have refused to take passengers with alcohol 922 times in the past year.
Airport policy does allow drivers to refuse a fare, only if they return to the beginning of the cab line, which can mean a wait of 3 to 4 hours until their next fare.
Airport officials have been meeting with the Cab Driver Advisory Board to resolve the issue. They say they have investigated policies at other airports, but concluded that the problem is unique to MSP.
Hmmmm, I wonder how many of these cabbies are illegals?
so, seems to me MSP should require them to take fares and if they don't, they're not welcome back..won't be long before some enterprising man/woman opens a cab company to specifically serve MSP..and have the muzzies go elsewhere for their fares..

It's their prerogative. The cab drivers take a loss too. as long as they aren't leaving people somewhere dangerous in the middle of nowhere.
Refuse a legal fare, should lose their airport hack licenses. That would put a stop to this BS very quickly.
Easy solution. Have some people come out of the airport with 6-packs on a frequent basis as a sting. Eventually the Muslim drivers will get tired of it and stop trying to pick people up from the airport
The Indians at the Mystic Lake Casino down the road will give you a hard time about your booze, too. You gotta hide it real good...;^)

Geez with their preference for car bombs who in their right mind would get into a cab with a muslim driver anyway?
I'm guessing they're Somalis here legally as refugees (courtesy of Klintoon and Wellstone). It's OK for them to wander around in a khat-induced stupor all the time, but Allah forbid somebody has booze in their cab.
I think passengers should be refusing to get into a cab driven by Muslims.
This has never, ever been a problem NYC where a large percentage of hacks are muslim.
That's funny- blowing up innocent people provokes NO RESPONSE from the US Muslim community- but a bottle of booze does... I'm proud to be a Christian.
It seems to me that one guy with a bottle of scotch and a few hours to kill could really screw with these cabbies, and move the more tolerant drivers to the head of the line.

Yeah. That was the point. Is it a spontaneous movement among the hacks or is there some guy preaching "no liquor" in the local mosque? I actually had a cabbie follow me into a ginmill once to return a package I left in his cab...
