Activists chained to abattoir

A GROUP of animal liberation activists have chained themselves to an Ipswich abattoir in protest against the slaughter of cattle.
Eleven activists from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne snuck into the Churchill Abattoir in Ipswich, west of Brisbane, at about 4am (AEST) today and chained themselves up to prevent this morning's slaughter.
Animal liberation campaigner Noah Hannibal said from inside the abattoir four of the activists had chained themselves up on the killing room floor and seven more were chained to equipment in the loading shoot where the animals were stung.
The workers arrived at the abattoir to begin slaughtering the cattle only to find the activists in their way.
As Mr Hannibal was being interviewed on his mobile, abattoir workers in welding masks were attempting to cut the activists free with angle grinders.
"The women chained up are absolutely terrified of the grinders," Mr Hannibal said as he yelled at the workers to stop because it was assault.
The protest is in reaction to the 2006 World Meat Congress currently being held in Brisbane and follows a day of action yesterday in which a near-naked woman climbed into a giant meat tray in the CBD, threw fake blood over herself and covered herself in plastic.
"We are hoping to draw attention to the cruelty of meat production and promote vegetarianism as a compassionate alternative," Mr Hannibal said.
"It's unnecessary to eat meat. Not only is it bad for you and the environment, it is cruelty to animals."
Police are expected to arrive at the abattoir shortly.

Pity if the meat workers with the angle grinders slipped...
These protesters are your classic bloody idiots!

...abattoir workers in welding masks were attempting to cut the activists free with angle grinders. The workers mistake was in attempting to cut the chains.

Cow Martyrs?
Let a few live bulls lose in the room and see how fast those chains come off.
Bull riding is my favorite sport (to watch). I love the beauty of the beasts.
Just found a pic the other day of me as a teen in the Philippines with my arm laid across a Caribou...guess I have always loved big beasts, but a Brahma bull is an awesome animal.
According to our Marine Biology teachers we are eating all the higher trophic fish only to leave shrimp and other lower trophic marine life...so we should munch on beef perhaps more often.

Why, the "Protester" brand of smoked sausage is a premium brand, and has been long considered a delicacy. Ditto for their fillets and briskets. The meat workers might have missed on a bonus money.

Only a greenie, leftie, feminist would call their kid Noah. As for Hannibal, your guess is as good as mine! LOL!

If I were the owner of that plant I'd leave them there, chained, permanently. I'd feed them 1 head of dirty cabbage per day.

I've often thought that the solution to these idiots that chain themselves to things is to just add another padlock that they don't have the key to and walk away for a week or so. See how committed they really are.

Are you saying that Lamech ( the Biblical father of Noah) was a liberal nutcase.
Somehow I missed that chapter of the Bible. :-)

I'm sorry. We want a block of flats, not an abattoir.
