So, when was the last time a government project was completed in less time than projected and at less than half the cost?
Bravo, Redhat! Bravo, Linux!

Tech pings. Nice to see how government spending can be cut and taxpayer money saved by using the right tools.

Please tell me you're joking. Linux is way more reliable and robust than anything Microsoft has ever released, or will release.

Ya beat me to it. I posted the article and was attempting to locate an aviation ping list to ping it to, but it was pulled.

That's one of the worst things about the government. They base almost every decision on what's the absolute cheapest, and free software is as cheap as you can possibly go. I for one know I won't feel any safer next time I'm flying!

Red Hat Certified Engineer One of the best certs out there 100% practical not multiple guess! Its also multi-tiered meaning you may not score high enough to get the RHCE but you may get the RHCT (Red Hat Certified Technician) which is a great cert for admins..

Linux has come along way in the last few years. That, and the fact that it is UNIX based is a big plus for stability and security to boot (har har). The "geek toy" days of Linux are long gone as a growing number of large corporations are adopting this OS platform.

- Keep in mind, this comes from a Red Hat press release.
- Also, they're taking business away from an established Unix customer, not Microsoft.
Myself, I stopped using RH after 9.0 because of the stupid crap they pulled....dropping support after only 12 months. That and their very high contractual costs have kept them out of my workplace. I use Debian for my Linux servers here.
