There is a lot of complaining, whining, lying, misleading, and really bad analysis going on right now vis-a-vis high gas prices. The latest I saw (early this morning) was an analysis that shows a lack of parity between the percentage increase in the price of a barrel of oil and the price of a gallon of gasoline at the pump. Look, I am not an economist or an expert on these matters. But rather than just moaning about the price of gas and then uttering some disembodied, meaningless statistic I heard from some dude, I have actually been listening to experts over the last few days. And, as with just about everything, to more I learn about an issue, the more I realize how important it is to study things before making snap judgments or determining a personal policy position. Here's the scoop as I now understand it...

I disagree with Rush on not buying Health Insurance (based on his comments in the past). To me, it is like leveraging groups to buy in bulk, similar to buying Mutual Funds. The more people grouping together to buy Insurance, the better the overall prices. It is spreading the risk and spreading the investment.

Sorry to hear that. I hate it. Dog people can measure their life in how many dogs they've owned. My grandmother lived till she was 93 and I can't begin to count how many dogs she owned.

I believe BurbankKarl was saying that people complain about a 50c increase in gas prices but don't complain about other increases that, as a percent, far outweigh the 'big oil' gouging..
That is clearer if that is what was meant.
