There is a lot of complaining, whining, lying, misleading, and really bad analysis going on right now vis-a-vis high gas prices. The latest I saw (early this morning) was an analysis that shows a lack of parity between the percentage increase in the price of a barrel of oil and the price of a gallon of gasoline at the pump. Look, I am not an economist or an expert on these matters. But rather than just moaning about the price of gas and then uttering some disembodied, meaningless statistic I heard from some dude, I have actually been listening to experts over the last few days. And, as with just about everything, to more I learn about an issue, the more I realize how important it is to study things before making snap judgments or determining a personal policy position. Here's the scoop as I now understand it...
The price of a gallon of gasoline is only partially determined by the price of a barrel of...

You're right on, ark_girl, and you KNOW Rush wouldn't take the pay-cut! They're both unique and special and I'm glad they're both there. I feel like we've sent Tony to War...
There is definitely something going on between Rush and Sean.. a few weeks ago, Rush played a clip of a media conference in which the reporter said something like.. "Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity..they are..."
When Rush played the clip, Sean's name was edited out and Rush made a big deal that they referred to him as 'they' as if it was a singular reference sentence.
That afternoon, Sean played the same clip with his name in there...
Because of Sean's vanity, I assumed he edited his name in, but later in finding the original clip, I found Rush cut Sean's name out..
If Rush didn't make a big deal about him being called a 'they' and the 'only name' they assign to 'talk radio', I would not have even have noticed....
But.. I still respect Rush far more than Hannity.
I get that, but still, if they allowed these companies to drill and make more refineries, we'd probably have much cheaper gas IMO.
I look at it this way, if one group of companies owned the means to harvest wheat, thresh the wheat, make the flour, bake the bread and distribute the bread, how much do you think you would pay for a loaf of bread? Sure, there's pumpernickel and oat bread but 90% of the bread is wheat-based, it doesn't matter who owns the fields, every other aspect is immaterial, including how many ovens are available to bake the bread. It's still a monopoly and the bakers are setting the price.
Mr. Stick Figure
Funny. Looks like the picked the wrong guy.
Perhaps Hannity's plagiarizing Rush's entire show is getting a bit tired. Especially when Sean comes on saying he's got the news you won't hear anywhre else.
I would say that we have a three-party system right now as well. Liberals, Moderates and Conservatives.
Holy crap is Rush on fire today!
Thanks for that. Although it will be shown in Morgantown, which was still up in the air last time I checked, this is not in wide release. The owner of the multiplexes in the two towns near me is not able to get it. Even the city of Clarksburg, WV will not have it.
I guess I should be satisfied that at least I wont have to travel to Pittsburgh to see it.
My plan to have a private screening for my local HS seniors is dead however.
Bingo!
Sean is hurting the President with his neverending Bush bashing and acting like he's the one with the intellectual honesty.
I lump the moderates in with the Liberals. If they've gone over the edge they're still "gone". Still your view represents that "Moderates" represent the "vital center" of America. Maybe. I keep remembering Rush's comment that the books entitled "Great Moderates in History" is pretty thin.
I put in the name of our Movie Theatre. I got my tickets.....................Yea..........
Sean won't shut up about the port deal either. Drives me nuts.
Hi Jan,
Nice to see you also.
How ya doing.
But, you hide your feelings so well!! ;>)
"If Lanny wants to hear some "venomous hate-mongers"
he can read the transcripts of his own press appearences
Just wait. If it's a hit, your local theaters will dump the losers they are currently playing and book "Flight 93".
Theaters managers want to make money with full up screens too. More people, more concessions sold (that's where the money is)
