When a person serves at the pleasure of a man like Saddam Hussein with the Idi Amin syndrome, they're going to tell him what he wants to hear knowing full well if they don't, they won't be around the next day.

While I think that is true to a point, they would also have to be careful to not tell him anything they couldn't back-up. Sort of a catch-22, tell him what he wants to hear, but it also has to be provable (to a point).

Yes, you're probably right. And it's not just the people who are his underlings but all of their families. It's unbelievable to me what some people will do for prestige and power.
