Susan Collins is a disgrace...WORSE than the dems, because she runs as a Republican which is a LIE.

His visit better be about substance, not symbolism. Otherwise it would merely mean an added burden for those diverted to provide extra security blanket, among other things. Thus, IMHO, he should NOT be appearing in person unless absolutely necessary.

You must be buying into the MSM and dems way of thinking...

He is going there to meet and greet the new Prime Minister...which is only the right thing to do.

Of course it is mostly about symbolism it is a few days after a new government was formed and the media has hardly focused at all on that and Rummy is there to force the media to cover the new government in Iraq as well as to dispell the anger the former generals have helped to build against him.

Remember after Abu Ghrieb broke? He is in Bagdad in a matter of days after that.

And apparently he's literally gone to where they hide. ;-)

Come to think of it, if I'm Rummy and my choice is spending minutes with Congress (which it seems he did right before he took off) or facing down the terrorists in Iraq, I take Iraq as the sweeter choice. Maybe that's my bias talking though. :-D

Seriously, love seeing Rummy active and with our troops! Now the shows will have to talk about him in the morning for a few minutes, and their sour faces will have to acknowlegde Rummy is still DOD. Love it!

It could be a right thing to do after it is seen that the new PM is not the same old piece of crap the old PM was. Most certainly, not in advance. For the time being, a teleconference ought to suffice.

You're welcome.

He's a man who can talk of peace as he wages war and never lose sight of what the end game is all about.

A visit by the Sec. Defense provides a huge boost of morale for the troops, as well as a feeling of confidence for Iraqis that their country is coming under control.

A teleconference is milquetoast in comparison.

"A visit by the Sec. Defense provides a huge boost of morale for the troops,"
You must be a multimillionaire heir, then. Every workplace bee knows that the boss' presence might be necessary 2% of the time, but is a sheer burden other 98%.
