This is an emotional argument. She is being charged with breaking laws. Either she broke them or she didn't. That's what a court will decide. I think she personally threatened a head of state and think she should be held accountable for that. Whether it is for a good cause or not is irrevelant.

She is being charged with breaking laws.
Breaking what law? She was given press credentials. She went to a microphone open for journalists. Rather than ask a question, she made a statement.
What law did she break? Embarrassing the President? Embarrassing a foreign dignitary?

An old lady says "Your days are numbered ." At best, that's ambiguous - to me, it seems that she was saying that a regime as repressive as Hu's couldn't last. In any case, if that's a personal threat against the head of state, there would have to have been thousands of prosecutions for threats against Bush, Clinton, etc. When someone on Free Republic said that Clinton's days were numbered, should they have been prosecuted?

Perhaps she should be prosecuted, but the jury certainly does not have to convict if they believe the law is unjust.
