These "arrests" are just political subterfuge and pandering to the base -- and will have NO far-reaching effect. It is all about presidential poll numbers. It is a sham.

Apparently cheap labor to keep corporate profits high is more important than homeland security.

In 2004, there were a total of four (4) prosecutions of American employers using illegal alien employees.
The "raids" were just window-dressing.

The whole argument about illegal aliens helping keep costs low falls flat on it's face when compared to our governments reaction to Americans buying cheap medicine in Canada.

I saw Michelle Malkin on Fox this morning. She said of the 1200+ or so that got arrested about 200+ accepted summary expedited deportation and they remainder were issued "notices to appear" and were released.
The whole exercise was just a giant Chinese fire drill that resulted in more catch and release.

It sure did work. The number of illegals dropped to zero. It was a tremendous success for INS. It was a tremendous success for the Dems, unions and socialists.
We need to do it again ASAP. Our immigration problems will drop to numbers that we can handle quietly, without any public ranting about what the gummint should be doing.

Depends on definition. There was an amnesty in 1984/85, but they continue coming. The next amnesty will "work" too.
You nailed it. They turned almost all of them lose as soon as the press was gone. Of course they told them all to come back at a future date to be deported.
One high profile raid with managers arrested is all I ask.
