I got a better idea: let's just enforce the old laws and deport these people.

Withhold ALL $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (I put it in bold, because that's all they care about) from the Republican't party, EXCEPT for campaigns like Weldon, Tancredo, Sensenbrenner, etc. we need to reward the good guys, and punish the RINOS. Send back all donation requests with a letter explaining why you are not including any $$$$$$$$$$. Rip up the stupid membership card, too.

Demand $10,000 fines for business that employ illegal employees.

Demand an end to ALL government benifit$ to illegal aliens. This includes primary/secondary education, college tuition, medicare, medicaid, emergency hospital treatment.

Demand a wall on the southern border first; northern wall second. If entire towns must be relocated, tough tortillas.

End "anchor baby" status for all illegals, retroactive to 1995.

Demand a review of LEGAL immigration with an emphasis on reforming the Immigration Act of 1965. Start with a reduction of the number of visas, etc. allowed from all countries that have not joined the coalition for the liberation of Iraq.

This is a good start. I have more ideas, but I am too tired to think of any more, plus I know what awaits me at work tomorrow. So good night, America.

I can agree with everything except "shoot on sight". That's where you lose people. (me, at least) I realize that your SN is EEE, but that type of extremism is counter productive.

Once a border is guarded properly, I would simply continue direct deportations as they occur.

Let's enforce the old laws and to he** with making new ones! Deport these people. If the pubbies don't want us voting third party they had better start listening to their voting base and doing what is right! AND what is right is enforcing our laws and giving no one a free ride.

"...if they commit a felony or two misdemeanors they are immediately deported"

So, what you are saying is that if the criminals commit more crime, then they will be deported.  Huh?

"...must sign up for a digitized, biometric federal ID card and without this card they cannot obtain employment."

Huh?  Is the federal government going to give "biometric" card readers to every employer in the U.S. or are we going to have to buy them ourselves?  If so, to which pandering political special interest company shall we buy them from?

"...make them sign a sworn notarized statement that they pledge their allegiance to the U.S."

Yeah, that's the one that will make them honest citizens.  They are already criminals.  I bet that "sworn notarized statement" will be the absolute key to the success of this program.  It's not like these criminals lie or anything.

These people are criminals.  They will always be criminals because they broke our laws to enter this country ILLEGALLY and have stolen from the citizens through welfare cheating, an underground economy,  criminal activities and general crime, the destruction of our national heritage and culture and a whole host of other undesirable things....such as bringing in bedbugs and diseases we had eradicated many years ago...just to mention some.

GET THEM OUT OF HERE...NOW!  SIMPLY ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS!

Add a mandatory federal ID swipe card to this. Terrific idea.

"Bush has his mind made up, he's stubborn, he wants illegals in the country, the globalists, corporate fat-cats, and Rockefellers have hijacked the GOP, and tossing away a vote for the Constitution Party is not an option when the stinking Dems are right around the corner to make the damage even worse."

Here's my "just had coffee - stream of consciousness" rant:

No form of "guest worker" program will work. If illegals are hired because they will work for less than minimum (or prevailing) wage, then "regularizing" their status will make them unattractive to employers since they will be more clearly subject to employee protections. The businesses will just hire more illegals and dump these "guest workers."

The businesses and governmental officials who are acquiescing in the mass migration are in effect repealing minimum wage laws through the back door. AND the politicians are looking for votes on the insulting racial notion that Hispanics favor the illegal actions of these people since they share an ethnic heritage. Would one go easy on drunk driving in the effort to win Irish votes? Or on the Mafia to win Italian votes? See how offensive that sounds? But instead of EDUCATING THE PUBLIC, these folks kowtow to the race-baiters who see regulation as bigotry, and of course make their business constituents happy.

There's been a lot of discussion here on whether to stick with the Republicans given their weakness on this issue. I still say we should - bad is better than worse. But the politicians have to know that many WILL NOT feel as I do - that's a fact I can't change. I fear the consequences of a split in our ranks. If it happens, though, there will be a lot of blame to go around.

What puzzles me is the panic in Congress over the need to pass a new law, which is leading to the need for "compromise".

What is it about the laws we have now that is inadequate? The legal structure that the representatives of the People have created to regulate immigration and naturalization is perfectly sensible, clear, and adequate to our needs.

Why do the authors of those laws now believe we need "reform"? What's wrong with what we have?

Crack down on the employers that are hiring these illegal invaders and they will self deport. There is no need for the government to deport anybody.

[ We must continue to advocate for strong border security and do what JimRob says and keep the heat on Republicans ]

Exactly.. I agree somewhat with some of your thoughts..
Bush is a RINO and a RINO WILL run for president in 2008 too(some RINO)..
More than a RINO is unelecteable.. Your ideas will SLOW down the bleeding away of this republic not stop it.. But I agree we are at the stage that slowing it down would be wise.. AT least here at FR.. we should be realistic.. The Bushbots would follow Bush if he was caught doing crack with Marion Berry and Cynthia McKinney..

I'm with Lou Dobbs on this...make sure the border is sealed and secure....then think about the illegals currently here.

Suggest two additions to your program:

1. Any immigrant who wants to enter/live in the United States on a permanent basis must GIVE UP / FOREGO Citizenship of their home/birth country. No Dual-Citizenship to be allowed in the U.S.

2. Public & Private schools to teach Mandatory U.S. History & Civics (no revisionist MeCHA fantasy or other multi-cultural B.S. permitted).

The Senate, House and White House are seriously confused about what is at issue and what is at stake here.

The issue of a guest worker program is completely separate from the issue of illegal aliens.

We have a guest worker program. It may need to be reformed but illegal aliens are those who have not applied to be guest workers. There are 11 million of them. (or more) The only thing needing reform now concerns illegal aliens and border security. We need to enforce the existing laws respecting the presence and employment of illegal aliens and border security.

Border security is the number one problem in this debate. The flood of illegal aliens is a major factor in relation to our lack of border security but it is only one factor. There is also a matter of national security in a time of war and in an age when terrorists have set their sights on inflicting mass destruction on our society.

After the issues of border security and millions of illegal foreign nationals on our soil the matter of guest workers is very small. Until the first two problems are thoroughly and firmly addressed the guest worker issue should not even be discussed.

Immigration and a guest worker program are separate issues from the above.

The President the Senate and the House need to get that message with unambiguous resolve.

Secure the border!

Crack down on employers!
(The dog-and-pony show catch-and-release won't cut it either.)

No anchor babies!

Deport illegal aliens.
(Not mass deportation, deportation on contact. Is it too much to expect taxpayer funded government authorities to enforce the laws on the books?

Bring in immigrants who have been waiting for years with papers in hand!

Nothing else will do.

Now is the time to put the pressure on!

"According to this new bill that's tied up in the Senate, illegal immigrants who can prove they've been here for two years would be allowed to stay. So follow the logic here. If you can prove you broke the current law for two years, you've protected under the new law." --Jay Leno
