"Bush polls have fallen to a new low," shout the newspaper headlines or the news anchors on television. "President Bush and Congress have reached their lowest numbers yet," they continue, trying to speculate whether this is caused by the high gasoline prices, the current economy, or the war in Iraq.
This is strange since there is good news, mostly hidden by the media, about all three.
1. Recently, the U.S. Energy Department announced the results of a land survey: "We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:

2. Our economy is at its best today with unemployment at its lowest in decades and with three million new jobs added!
snip
3. We are winning the war in Iraq and, as I write this, Jawad al-Maliki, an experienced political operator and advocate for Iraq's Shiite Muslims, has won the approval

Anti-Bush information also pours into our homes from the news on NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN and even Fox News. The latter says that it is fair and balanced, implying that it gives you news from both the left and right political wings. But if TV news is to be balanced, should we not have at least one TV network that tells us only the truth about our country without two commentators spinning in two different directions? Don't we get enough opinion, generally slanted to the Left, from all the other networks?

Polls always reflect not what people think but rather how they react to the news they see and hear every day beamed or tossed into their homes by both television and print.

People are upset that we do not enforce laws we have now.
I could get in more trouble as an American for pirating an FM radio signal than I would be as a Mexican entering the country illegally. It is sad.
But I also know and am in contact with many people, none of whom ( and yes, I talk politics with them all. LOL )say what you claim those whom you are in contact with say to you. That was my sole point. I am not engaging in a "fight" with you...just telling my side of it.
Your anecdotal information is NOT reflected in the posted poll.
Exactly so.
Then I guess that Reagan wasn't a "good" president; by your standards.
I'm sure the Democratic president elected in 2008 will do a much better job than Bush, don't you?
I'm going to ask you a serious question: does anybody you know in the real world talk about illegal aliens on a daily basis?
Anybody?
Judging from the number of posts on this board I'd say that illegal aliens is a major issue for a lot of people.
No...hahahaha! It's all coming out of the DNC in Washington as usual and the weakest links are falling for it.
I don't recall saying that I am not voting Republican in 2008. I simply said I will not vote for one who does not represent my views. If you were really so concerned about putting a Republican in the White House you would put a conservative on the ballot, other wise the base won't vote for them. Good luck winning with a candidate that isn't endorsed by the NRA or other influential conservative groups. People who think like you are the ones who really damage the party. Most Americans don't have an irrational loyalty to candidates based soley on their political affiliations. They vote based on what is important to them. Michael Bloomberg Republicans do not fall into that category.
Obviously, we don't know the same people. It's as simple as that. That does NOT make me wrong!
How many ways and how many times does it have to be said: FR is not representative of the real world OR the GOP.
And there's not as many of "them" here as you think; they just post to each other about it 24/7/365. They've been saying the same things to the same people for years.
Some issues are different. This illegal alien thing is (I believe) a very big deal for a lot of people. You can sense it in the tone of the posts. Fer instance, there is a lot less rote name calling and cliches used in the posts. Folks are very emotional about it.
Two words: Alan Keyes.
People who think like you are the ones who really damage the party.
People like me are the people who do the work and get people elected year in and year out without using our vote as BLACKMAIL time and time again.
They vote based on what is important to them
You're exactly right. And most of them are moderates or centrist. We've NOT a conservative country.
We are the real base Howlin...the MSM be damed for their ratings driven agenda.
To my mind, a BIG part.
Normally good-hearted people can be coaxed to become malcontents.
For example, some families create an environment which encourages griping and grudge-bearing in their children. Other families encourage more positive attitudes in the children.
I didn't "attack" you; I stated facts.
Unlike you, I didn't play school yard bully and call you silly names.
Your posts to this thread were and still are ridiculous, incivil, factless, foaming at the mouth juvenile, and devoid of anything relevant and pertinenantg to the topic of this thread.
You may engage in a one sided flame war, but it will avail you nothing but derision and scorn from those who read your posts.
That's a nasty, vicious, UNTRUE assertion. Dare I say "personal attack?"
I would ignore nopardons as his intellectual capacity has not reached room temperature for several decades.
Ignoring is one thing, posting without pinging her is quite another, you pathetic coward.
durasell, you see what you want to see; what you don't see is how many people are NOT posting simply because they're sick and tired of every single news story being turned into a discussion of illegal aliens.
People avoid those threads like the plague; but, not to be ignored, they drag it on every thread.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if somebody posted a thread saying "Today was a great day," and the next post would be "Yeah, but how many illegals got in today?"
