No substitute for talent, is there?
She's toast unless she comes right out and criticizes Bush on national TV.

She's young and cute.....so she'll likely walk away unscathed.

Judging by the smirk on her face?
Deport her to the salt mines...or some similar un-Harvardian fate.
Cheers!

Why isn't "novelist" in quotes? It really should be.

I could pick 29 instances from a John Updike novel that mirrored my own life's experiences... but of course I neglected to write them down and publish them.

OK...mildly cute. Your pic is a little less complimentary, but she's just keeping the corner cutting/cheating tradition alive at Harvard a la Teddy Kennedy.

Like the heroine of "Opal," Ms. McCafferty's character, Jessica Darling, visits the campus, strives to earn good grades to get in and makes a triumphant high school graduation speech.
Jessica Darling?

Oh, wait, it's Darling with a 'g'...
My mistake...
Never mind...
To: The Lion Roars
She got half a million up front as a college freshman to write some sappy romance novels.....amazing.

Viswanathan added, "I wasn't aware of how much I may have internalized Ms. McCafferty's words."
You've got to be joking. I would be too embarrassed to be seen on campus if I were her.

I could pick 29 instances from a John Updike novelDon't feel so bad... Updike ripped off Gunter Grass before he ripped off anyone else.

published by Crown, a division of Random HouseSorry to say so, but Random House is getting quite a reputation. They have published a number of "memoirs" which turned out to be quite false, as well.
They are not keeping up standards.
