I don't get it, and I'm rather inclined not to believe you.

Bush has lived up to all conservative expectations in so many ways.

Taxes.

Abortion.

Homeland Security and national defense.

Fought the good fight on social security. (and by the way, SS is much more of a danger to a capitalistic society than immigration. It could lead to socialism or be bankrupt if something isn't done)

I trust the man. If I don't agree with him, at least I know in my heart that he does what he does for the right reasons.

I wish all the Bush haters would just cool it for a while.

I hold on to those same sentiments.

But I can't, for the life of me, understand this illegal immigration crap. I was at the event months back when Bush came to Nashville and spoke at the Grand Ol' Opry.

He was on fire about Iraq, taxes, etc. He was talking to us and not giving a typical speech. But when he brought up the guest worker idea he lost the crowd big time. Everyone there I talked to disagreed.

I don't know why these newbies can't read. I have written nothing saying I don't support, and have, this president. I, like millions of others, just disagree on some issues.

And I still think the GOP Congress is a mess. I don't why they don't get some spines and do the right thing. But thanks for your encouragement.

Out of curiosity---where should a conservative go if he is unhappy with the President?

First, President Bush isn't running again, so that should make you happy. In the meantime, making your views known to the RNC (local & National), contacting the White House with your displeasure as well as state and local conservative leaders will not only let the party know how you feel but will also make feel better by venting a little steam.

The only way the party will change is if enough conservatives make views known.

Try living in Washington State, all liberals. All of them!!!!!!

Come on! Think of the good things that have happened over the last 5 years. How about remembering the President challenging the UN to its face? Taking Afghanistan? Getting tax cuts passed?

The President's position on immigration hasn't changed since 1999. You can go back and look at his old speeches. Whether or not you agree with it, it is what he has always promoted. And at least he is trying to do something...while Bill Clinton did NOTHING.

Sometimes you have to look back and remember, and quit concentrating on the momentary troubles of the present.

This actually started in a post where I was asking if this information about Tony Snow was confirmed (I still haven't seen it reported anywhere) and someone took issue with the tagline and a response to another about Tony agreeing with Bush in illegal immigrants.

I haven't expressed that I "hate despise or wish ill" anyone. Post 513 expressed my hope for better communications for the President.

Seems to me it's a thread about Tony Snow and his new job.
Your view that it is "contaminated" by anything but well wishes for Mr. Snow seems to be an unwarranted constraint.
I join others in wishing Mr. Snow well in what is sure to prove a difficult position. This does not alter my opposition to some of his positions nor will it prevent any criticism, if warranted.

I'm wondering why the sudden mass panic about immigration.

It didn't just start being a problem, but there was nothing much said about it on Free Republic, say, a year ago.

It's like mind control has taken over and it's now the most important thing in the world to everyone.

I think the main thing to be done is border control.

Once that happens, really happens, we can deal gradually with the situation of who's already here.
