Considering that plumbers, carpenters, mechanics, and other people who work jobs that only require a high school diploma and a certification make more money than the average liberal arts degree holder, the question shouldn't be why are there so few men or women in college, but rather why are there so many? I would only encourage my son/daughter to go to college if they were getting a degree in something like engineering or chemistry.
None of this requires holding back girls, nor need it revive the gender wars. It's about figuring out ways to reach every child. Turning down the volume and learning from success stories would be a good first step.

The claim that females "...score just as high on the SAT" is yet another feminist lie. Males in North Carolina and nationally traditionally and currently outperform females substantially in the math portion of the SAT, and outperform females slightly in the verbal portion of the SAT.

David Usher posted a couple of Days ago that the GOP Congress has bailed on Marriage. The Legal Vultures and Domestic violence bottom feeders profit from Divorce and the demonization of Men. Yet Conservative Women remain silent and continue to say nothing and do nothing.
Want to keep the Congress in the next election? Make Marriage and Joint Custody the Central issue in the election. Otherwise many of us Men will sit this one out. They wouldn't stand a chance getting a job when Indians are coming over in droves for 3/5ths of the salary that a M.E. used to get.
