CIA LEAKER MARY McCARTHY
& WASH. POSTS DANA PRIEST HAVE
PARTISAN HISTORY TOGETHER
New Questions Arise About CIA Leaker &
Washington Post Reporters Political Motivations
(SAN FRANCISCO) The nations largest pro-troop grassroots organization, Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org) has uncovered new ties between disgraced CIA leaker, Mary McCarthy, and Washington Post reporter, Dana Priest.
Priest was the reporter who received a Pulitzer Prize for reporting on classified information on the war on terrorism that CIA analyst Mary McCarthy leaked to her in violation of U.S. law. The case has been referred to the Justice Department for possible prosecution.
Move America Forward has learned that McCarthy and Priest had other intersecting interests. McCarthys political involvement suggests a coordinated effort by former Clinton Administration officials to proactively undermine the war on terrorism to advance their political interests.
This cast of characters also has a bad habit of breaching U.S. security when it serves their own political agenda, and that is disgraceful behavior, said Melanie Morgan, Chairman of the Move America Forward.
Mary McCarthy has a well-documented history of making political contributions to individuals opposed to the Bush Administrations anti-terrorism policies. The most recent political contributions by McCarthy were made just last month two contributions made to Democrat Joseph Sestak, who is challenging Republican congressman Curt Weldon for Congress.
McCarthys support for Sestak is interesting for two reasons. First, Sestak served as Director for Defense Policy at the National Security Council (NSC) during the Clinton Administration. McCarthy was a Special Assistant to President Clinton and also a Senior Director at the NSC...

Treason is the new McCarthyism.

I think we need to change the term. A leak is bits of information given to an inquiring reporter.
This was not a leak.... when you see Mary McCarthy and Dana sitting next to each other at their little CSIS get togethers.....it's obvious they planned and discussed how the story would be written. To say this is a leak is to give it a lighter weight. This was meant as full fledged propaganda.
So I propose that we no-longer call them leaks. They are now officially propaganda! Plain and Simple!!!

Curt Weldon is one of the good guys, Priest doesn't seem interested in "Able Danger"

How about coup plotters instead of leakers and reporters?

Don't you think it would have been fair for them to credit the FR posters who came up with the research?

Thanks for the list of Board of Directors
I want to highlight one name:
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former Lt. Governor of Maryland
This is from the book
"Covert Cadre: Inside the Institute for Policy Studies, by S Steven Powell, with an introduction by David Horowitz, " published in 1987:
"Jimmy Carter's "progressive global" and "human rights" approach to foreign policy had backfired, but it had at least demonstrated what a short distance separated progressive liberalism from revolutionary socialism, the model enthusiastically embraced by IPS and the Latin network." - page 223
"The Center for International Policy (CIP) was formed in 1975 by Lindsay Mattison, with Orlando Letelier's help, as another "human rights" research/lobbying organization. Like the IPS spinoff Center for National Security Studies, which focused on the intelligence agencies, CIP operates under the aegis of the Fun for Peace, with support from the Rubin Foundation, the Ruth Mott Fund, and the Stern Fund. Donald Ranard, a disaffected State Department official and friend of Orlando Letelier, is CIP's director and William Goodfellow its deputy director.* Susan Weber, an early staff member, was previously registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act as an employee of the Soviet embassy to copyedit
Soviet Life.
CIP has focused much of its effort on stopping financial institutions, like the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the International Monetary Fund, from aiding Latin American countries friendly to the United States.
---snip---
A theme CIP plays is that Latin America's problems are really the fault of the United States. For instance, the introduction to William Biddle's CIP paper on Nicaragua states that "basic U S interests are more threatened by the customary American response to radical governments than by the governments themselves."** Likewise, on the Grenadan crisis, CIP fellow W Frick Curry wrote, "In the final analysis, the greatest threat to American citizens was caused by violence precipitated by the [U S] invasion itself.*** Despite its overt bias, CIP avers that "the press corps and Congressional leaders and staffs have found the Center's bimonthly
International Policy Report useful in getting a fresh look at the problems of aid and repression.**** --pages 236-7 ----- All quotes in original text. Asterisks refer to footnotes of attribution.
Not much has changed with the world view or methods of operation of these folks in the past twenty years.

I guess some still consider the (Kathleen) Kennedy (Townsend) name to be worth something. Thank goodness most Maryland voters didn't consider it enough to vote her in for Governor.

Thanks for that interesting reply.

People are discussing Ms McCarthy's quick rise in CIA assignments in the '80s. I am wondering how far back her relationship with Priest and Goodfellow goes. Was she a pro-CIP person way back then, or did the Marxists of that org. turn her to their side. Lots of threads to follow.
"... according to the New York Times, by the late 1980s McCarthy was already chief of the CIAs Central America and Caribbean section despite having no experience in those areas."
