Close the border and start deporting...I was listening to the radio about an hour ago and heard W say there was no way they were going to deport that many people.
But he's not up for re-election, is he?

The mud-slinging is starting early this year.
Keep it up. There will be nothing left for an October surprise and Repubs will sweep Congress.

I was watching his California speech today on Fox, thinking what a fine speech he was giving, and then he repeated that dog-eared statement about the terrorists "hijacking a great religion."
That is the equivalent of saying that the Evangelicals or the Catholics or the Baptists have hijacked Christianity.
The Wahhabis and Salafists and Qutbists and Twelvers (and other hard core Shia) have not hijacked a religion...they are a solid part of it.
I understand that he must pick his words carefully so as not to divide his constituents, but if he honestly believes islam has been hijacked...he is a minority of one (well, two if you count Condi).

I think it's more a gas price issue than anything else. The higher the price the lower his ratings.

Pictures of screaming children on buses headed for the border would be a disaster for Bush and the GOP. And pictures of screaming children of illegals skipping (stolen, taxfunded) school to wave mexican flags is a plus?

Unless the president can come down hard on the border and deal with gas prices it will be a bad November I suspect. The public wants action not talk at this point in time.

Because all of the polls are pretty much in convergence. All but the most loyal of bushbots are unhappy with the direction the country is going, to varying degrees. Illegal immigration is the issue that galvanizes the country now.

Rasmussen has him at 40...A mass deportation just wont work. That does not negate the need for immediate border security. Stop the flood, then sort out the rest later. JMHO...

Stop the flood, then sort out the rest later. We did this 20 years ago and here we are doing it again. The flood will not stop until there is a real plan in place. For the mightiest country in the world, we sure have a lot of idiots sailing the ship.

No it won't. Pictures of screaming children on buses headed for the border would be a disaster for Bush and the GOP. That's a ridiculous argument, of course. Only a few are even suggesting that this is the way to handle it -- and it's mostly the pro-illegal lobby, trying to scare the ones who want illegal immigration stopped.
It's also a false argument. How about enforcing the law against businesses and getting rid of free government incentives for illegals? I mean, there ARE other reasons the illegals are coming besides Mexico being so dreadful.
Bush might as well be standing at the border with a bullhorn hollering "come on over!"

It's going to get even lower when his latest Illegal Immigration remarks reach the general public. (Where the Democrats failed, the Republicans succeeded.)
