"jobs Americans won't do"

I'm glad he said it. It's true. Take a look at the number of able bodies men and women who'd rather live off welfare than pack up and move somewhere to take a job for less.

It's not that *all* or *any* American won't do the jobs, it's that not enough will agree to do them for the price the employer is willing to pay.

Take a look at the real Americans who are going to work, some in fast food, some in food processing, some in agri -- and yes, the fields, etc.

To say jobs Americans won't do is elitist and it is an insult to every American who works is those kinds of jobs.

They would have to do it if they had no other recourse. That's what past generations of pre-welfare Americans had to do. Remember the Grapes of Wrath? And once enough hard-working illegal workers join the welfare rolls they, too, will be among those avoiding "jobs Americans won't do."

Thank you zook.

Anyone who has ever tried to hire for entry level jobs has a front seat understanding of this issue.

I actually talked to a woman a couple years ago who was willing to loose her house rather than demean herself by taking an entry level job. She was a college graduate afterall. Nevermind that capable people who started at entry level were moved up in the company very quickly...they just used this method to keep everyone working as a team and understanding each other.

Strangely, she thought loosing the house was Bush's fault.

In the Katrina recovery work that is going on here in Mississippi, the problem long-time local contractors are finding is that there are not enough Americans that are willing to work for the normal construction wages they pay. Many that do take a job, show up late for work, drink on the job, or quit in the middle of a job. They are also tearing up expensive equipment, and then not alerting anyone to that fact.

Many contractors are forced to hire illegal mexicans, as they cannot find ENOUGH Americans willing to work. Many of these mexicans will work from daylight to dark, while many long-time construction workers start cleaning up at 3PM for a 3:30PM quitting time.

This can be seen every day in Mississippi, for those that want to believe that I am lying.

BTW, Reagan is on record using (in speeches concerning immigration), the "hated phrase" "Work Americans will not do"! It's on the net, so check it out!

BTW, I am for securing the borders, and deporting all illegals. Then we can talk about a "guest worker" program.
