Yep....more of the same lack of anything.
Six years....doubled illegals at least.
and barely a blip in enforcement
beats all I've ever seen
I'd be happy to answer your questions as soon as you return the courtesy:
1) I am not going to lose my job - does that make me an "elite"?
2) What American has lost a job picking lettuce all day long for $3 per hour?
"2) What American has lost a job picking lettuce all day long for $3 per hour?"
So you think it's okay for an employer to break the law and pay below the minimum wage to someone who broke the law to enter this country? Are you really a conservative? I thought conservatives respected the rule of law.
I asked the question first : )
Looking at the info I've seen;
Since 9/11 most interior enforcement has been pulled with funds going to the border.
On the border, since 2001, six million have been caught. Of these six million, 400 thousand criminals/terroists have been screened out with the remianing non-criminals given a court date for a deportation hearing.
Most given a court date, don't show up. These, along with the others that sneak accross the border and don't get caught, become our illegal aliens probably to the tune of about 6 million additional since 2001.
You asked janetgreen a question. Your question includes breaking the law to underpay an illegal worker. I repeat, do you respect the rule of law?
(Oh and if you need my answers:
1. Yes.
2. Yes, but they won't work under the table for $3 an hour -foolish when min. wage is higher and also don't care to be treated like slave labor)
One more thing:
Have you ever seen how employers treat people in sweat shop labor conditions? Do you condone this practice?
If you do I guess you enjoy your life as the Padrone. You can smack them around if they don't produce results fast enough. No OSHA, no ADA, no stinkin' regulations for you.
The same in Oak Ridge and Morristown also. I think I know why these areas have a substantial population of illegals. The first is jobs at Industrial Parks. The second one is easy North, South, East, and West, interstates that run through or near these cities. In Oak Ridge I highly suspect they are working for sub contractors at DOD facilities and the do drive new SUV's like Yukons. Most blue collar DOD/DOE workers here can't swing buying them. Of course the American DOD/DOE workers pay income taxes, Social Security, car insurance, house payments, utility bills, etc like other Americans.
Bush has always said that the path to citizenship should start at the end of the line.
Here in Nashville, they won't even arrest illegals short of felonies....maybe not even for class D-F felonies even.
The cops I know claim INS won't pick them up and they don't want to be stuck with them.
The upsurge in crime in the illegals community is staggering here.
I know legal Mexican immigrants here who are terrified of the gang element.
I do not employ any illegal aliens, but I am also against the government setting minimum wage and price controls. I thought that was the fiscal conservative position.
I'm talking about the 18? million "OTHER" illegal aliens (aside from the lettuce pickers). They're the ones taking jobs from the American middle class, and they shouldn't even be here.
You like them so much, I'll send you my portion of the 10 billion dollar ripoff that we in Mexifornia are forced to pay for their support, OK?
I guess to answer your questions - I don't condone breaking the law or sweat shop labor even though I have not seen how employers treat people in sweat shop labor conditions - I do respect the rule of law as well as the procedure by which to change said law.
Why don't you send that bill to Cruz Bustamonte and Antonio Viaregosa (sp?), along with another note: "The only good Mexican is a dead Mexican"?
They don't make that. They make a lot more taking blue collar jobs. A contractor can pay them $8 an hour under the table doing skilled labor. No workman's comp. No Social Security Tax, No Income Tax to do the paper work on. No records of them working whatsoever. If I did this the IRS would have me in the Federal Pen. Now you tell me how 10,000,000 plus illegals can pick lettuce or any crop 365 days a year anywhere in the USA? Many farms now are commercial corporate operations and many are automated in harvesting. In the entire USA there is likely 6-8 months pickable crops requiring pickers. Even this will be migrant work.
There's an apple orchard near my home I guess 6 miles away. It's been there for years and is off the hi-way about a mile. Last year I drove up to it in September to ask when their apples would be ready so I could buy some. In this area early fall is typically harvest time. Well the tree's were there. They were barren of fruit, untouched, and unmaintained in several years it looked like. But they did have a large crop of Mexicans there though.
Gosh, clawrence, that's a racist statement! I thought racist statements weren't allowed on this forum.
The law as it is written IS the law. You haven't changed anything yet.
Glad to hear you don't condone slavery/sweatshops. Too bad you condone slavery/sweatshop wages. This could be why you are being accused of being an 'elite'.
Very little is being done by ICE away from the border. Local LE just about everywhere does nothing. Local LE usually complains that it's a federal job and that they don't have the money.
On the border where all the Homeland Defense-type money is going, it seems like we are nabbing illegal aliens but the ones that are ID'ed as not being criminals are given a court date and released never to show up for their deportation hearings.
It is the current policy that illegal non-Mexicans nabbed at the border are usually deported without a hearing. However, illegal Mexicans nabbed at the border are given a court date for a deportation hearing.
We either need more detention centers to hold these illegal Mexicans at the border or we need to change our policy and deport all illegal Mexicans found at the border similar to non-Mexcan illegals found at the border.
It wasn't a statement - it was my suggestion as to where you could stick your bill.
