I don't think these papers had any political motivation for publishing Spanish-language editions. I think they see it simply as one more way to sell column-inches. Politics be damned -- money is all that really counts in the newspaper biz.

It's the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the Dallas Morning News, by the way...

Sorry, I meant to get the names right, but I flubbed them.

I disagee with your assessment. The LA Times understood the wave of illegal immigration and the quest for Aztlan long before most citizens did. They positioned themselves to survive even if our nation was over-run. I do not respect that even for the almighty buck.
