Good lord, do you think the troops in Iraq are being supported by giving away their homeland while they are serving in foreign lands? I sure don't.

The problem of immigration did not begin in the last 5 years - You "sky is falling" types over immigration might be well intended but you are going off the deep end.

That you seemingly refuse to recognize that good people can come to differing solutions (in degree) on how to handle this complex (40 year in the making) problem is beyond me.

And yes, the WOT is more important then the sole issue of immigration. In terms of national security and our borders much more is happening on that front (in terms of WMDs, dirty bombs, etc) then is talked about or reported about.

I think we have accidently fallen into a "border control" thread...

sheesh

There are some scary, scary times ahead if a temper tantrum by some voters puts the national security of this country further at risk...

Dev, how do you figure this immigration thing has been brewing for the last 40 years? 17 years ago we completed naturalizing every illegal immigrant in the nation, all 3.5 million of them. We now have between 15 and 30 million here.

Frankly I don't see this as complex at all. We have laws. Those laws were broken. There are prescriptions for what is supposed to take place when that happens. This is very simple.

Let's say you are correct for a moment. Okay, we allow those here to have guest permits. We naturalize them in 2012. In 2012 that 15 to 30 million start voting. Immediately those 15-30 million file for next of kin immigration permits. Within five years 15 to 30 million people bring over between two and five more people. Not only that, these 15 to 30 million people have children.

What we're talking about is conservatively between 45 to 90 million people more people on top of those already here before figuring in the new births. All this would take place by 2015.

With births we could be talking about 60 to 120 million people. Thats about 20 to 35% of our current populace, to be added in 9 years. It will be impossible for these people to assimilate. What we will have done is turn the United States into a duality within 25 years, 1990 to 2015. This doesn't even include the illegal immigrants that haven't come over yet.

That doesn't sound like giving away our homeland to you?

I sort of concur with you there. As long as the dolts on the Hill can manage to NOT pass an amnesty bill before the elections, I might could see my way to being a good little bot at the polls.

The longer this thing is debated, the less likely it is that we see them pass an amnesty. IMO.

Bonus points if Chaffee gets dumped in the primary. Somebody needs to be made an example, in order to calibrate the rest of the fainthearted.
