Joe Scarborough : Who cares if GOP loses Congress ?

Who cares if GOP loses Congress?

By Joe Scarborough

Who really cares if Republicans lose Congress? Certainly not GOP leaders in the US House.

As the Wall Street Journal reported, the Republican pigs running Congress are wasting more money than those big-spending Democrats ever did.

Last month's deficit was the highest ever. But while Rome burns, Republicans obsess over their earmarks.

Conservative Republicans. What an oxymoron.

There is nothing conservative about the party to which I once proudly belonged. Like millions, I am disgusted by my party and their leaders.

A handful of responsible adults still understand the need for reform. But don't tell that to GOP bulls who have been trying to spend money like drunken sailors since they were empowered by the Revolution of 1994.

Some revolution.

A decade later, Republicans have given America the biggest deficit ever. The biggest debt ever. The biggest trade gap ever. The highest spending increases ever. A 110% increase in the education bureaucracy. A 100% increase in the Justice bureaucracy. An 88% increase in the Department of HHS. More pork projects than ever before. More earmarks than ever before. More reckless spending projects than ever before. A bigger, more wasteful government than ever before.

Why the hell should conservatives work to put these whores back in their perches of power?

Could Nancy Pelosi's Congress be worse?

Not on the spending level, because George W. Bush would have the courage to veto her outrageous spending bills. Sadly, he has shown no such fortitude with his own party in charge.

It is disgusting. It is also a problem I diagnosed two years ago in my book. But Republicans weren't listening then and they won't listen now.

I keep seeing that supposed Ben Franklin quote over on the leftwingnut threads.

Well, that one and the Mary McCarthy quote about Lillian Hellman (who used to be a leftwingnut hero).

The author is working under a false premise. Conservatives don't care about having a small, constitutional, fiscally responsible government. They care about guns, gays, and abortions. And if huge deficits, trade gaps, and record spending is what it takes, so be it.

This all started when Newt decided that his zipper was more important than his country............... He was the last feared leader....those that followed are simply a bad joke!

This place is a home for single issue voters. Luckily for the rest of the country they're a small minority and I suspect venting here keeps them safely on their meds.

Right. They will attempt to impeach the President, pass bills on more social nonsense, do nothing on ANWAR or energy, pass more gas taxes, and completely block any conservative judges - SC or otherwise.

It's bad but it can ALWAYS be worse. We have to improve what we have, not give up.

He decided he wanted to be a media talking head instead of a congressman.

Given the direction that the GOP led Congress is taking, I can't say I blame him.

I totally agree. I know that handing this country over to the Dems will send it to hell in a handbasket but at least I don't have to sit and agonize over these spineless, co-dependent Republicans who are doing nothing to stop its decline except pad their own pockets

The Pubs will have a lesson for generations of what happens when they govern the way they have. And the Rats will tie up all resources on impeachment and little else. Those who govern least govern best.

That is a possibility.

I wonder why the Democrat base isn't having this argument.

Nothing is worse than a Democrat controlled anything.

"Joe's been getting a DNA transplant from Chrissy Matthews!"
In the beginning, he had good conservative points. But, all that time with the Bush Haters,Matthews and Olberman, have rubbed off.
Now is the time to change the Republican Party. Vote for the Conservatives in the Primaries instead of keeping the same losers we have. Consider the type of government the Democrats will build on the ashes.

I keep seeing that supposed Ben Franklin quote over on the leftwingnut threads.

And your point is what? That leftwingnuts are also able to Google Benjamin Franklin quotes over the Internet?

do nothing on ANWAR or energy, pass more gas taxes,

Oh it will be worse than that - they will impose a penalty on the big oil companies for making a profit. Somehow this is to create more supply - God what idiots - all Senators should be required to take an Economics and Finance course at a staunchly conservative University before they can be seated. Penalizing profits certainly puts America on a much faster slide towards all out socialism - but what they heck that's what the Dims stand for. They want to do nothing about American defenses other than talk (Federal Government's primary role), and yet pass every sort of social legislation they can get their hands on (Federal Government should but out of social issues).

The point I'm getting at is that it's a spurious, modern "quote", and it's exceedingly popular among leftwingnuts but not among Republicans and Conservatives.

"he winners won't care that you didn't vote for them, because they didn't have your vote anyway. And the losers won't care, because they're now out of power and have no further reason to seek your vote."

Sounds fine to me. At least I'll know where 90% of my enemies are. It's better than being led down the garden path and being told how great life is while the wolf is eating my children in the background.
