While bin Laden is not the crux of the issue, he is a major player. And while it's not about bin Laden -- in that bin Laden didn't invent Islam, is not the "prophet", and was not involved in all the past history of Islam -- he *is* a player to be reckoned with.
If the United States, itself, were to take that attitude -- those elected officials (involved in that "position") would be out of office in no time flat. People wouldn't stand for ignoring bin Laden.
So, in that respect, you're totally out of touch on the matter.

If you (the Palistinians) contimue your mindless, savage attacks on innocent civilians in the land where most of your employment and trade revenues are obtained (Israel), you will eventually convince them and just about everyone else (the USA, the EU, maybe even Russia, France, and China) that you are a mob of rabid, raving lunatics and thus Israel will eventually build walls to keep you out.
A direct consequence of this will be that people will stop writing you checks, as the cost of your employment and trade will exceed their alternative economic value, and you will be left with nothing, no jobs, no trade, no money -- which ironically is what OBL just complained about, albeit completely missing the true root cause.
If you play OBL's tape backwards, it includes talking points for Dr. Dean and the Democrats, possibly even activation messages for sleeper cells in the DNC. This is all highly classified information, and I expect to be arrested any minute. Goodbye.
UBL is likely (1) complaining that all the kaffir in Dafur haven't been put to the sword yet because of crusader-like interferences or (2) looking for a new homebase in N. Sudan and this is his howdy to the Muslim tyrants there or (3) setting a false lead -- he's headed eastward so he points our effort westwards. Three is cool because if we bite (which we should for the sake of stopping the genocide) it may also settle some scores he may have with those big mulsim muck-a-mucks in the Sudan who once tried to turn him over to Clinton.

I think Israel did at one time, but not any more. Territorial absorption and popular assimilation was the original plan (IMHO). One thing they didn't count on was the absolute self-destructive lunacy of these modern (Arafat-Era) Palestinian Arabs.
Israel should have taken note of the fact that even the Palestinians own blood relatives (Jordanians) had to evict them from Jordan after they tried to take over that country which had admitted them as refugees.
The simple fact is that the Palestinian Arabs are so irascible, violent, and unproductive that absolutely NOBODY wants them, except the radical islamists, who want them for cause celeb and for cannon fodder.
After Israel has built it's wall and sealed the gates, and after sensible people hopefully stop giving aide to these troglodytes, they might actually wake up to the fact that they have to learn to grow and make useful products with which to trade in order to survive.
That's part of their plan alright.

I tend to think you are right. There is NO scenario I can envision, including a dirty bomb going off on U.S. soil, set by a middle eastern type, that would lead to unrestricted bombing of non-aggressors in the ME.
Battling evil is apparently not meant to be convenient nor unchallenging.
