A detailed and lucid exposition of how ID intellectual laziness on the subject of immunology- Michael Behe wrote off the field as scientifically inexplicable and therefore 'irreducibly complex' in 1996, had already been rebutted by the time of the Dover trial. The gap closed in a mere 9 years. Sure hope the god living in it was nimble.
And this bears repeating
Thankfully, there are scientists who do search for answers to the question of the origin of the immune system. It's the immune system. It's our defense against debilitating and fatal diseases. The scientists who wrote those books and articles toil in obscurity, without book royalties or speaking engagements. Their efforts help us combat and cure serious medical conditions. By contrast, Professor Behe and the entire intelligent design movement are doing nothing to advance scientific or medical knowledge and are telling future generations of scientists, don't bother.

More fundamentally, the decision represents a considerable setback for ID advocates But they won't believe that, either...

A most excellent article....I also note, that the section that you say 'bears repeating', does indeed, bear repeating...I am especially interested in the part where it is noted, that many of these scientists, are writing their books, and articles in near obscurity, without those great speaking engagements, and book royalties...Hah...they need to get in step with those grand 'scientists', who blather about on the Creation Network on TV, hawking their tapes, CDs, and books...
But golly, have not some of the anti-evos, told us, with great authority, that evolution is nothing but some grand money making scheme?...
Who is a person to believe?

Nature Immunology has nothing better to use their valuable space with than an attack on Behe?
Weird.
BTW, smarminess (yours) is a big problem. Weird.

I'm grateful for the Dover trial.

This obsession is getting to be like Ahab's whale or some such.

We find that such evidence demonstrates that the ID argument is dependent upon setting a scientifically unreasonable burden of proof for the theory of evolution. Interesting statement.

Zounds! The entire intelligent design movement wants future generations to not advance medical research.

Great article! I'm no scientist and don't follow all the biological terminology but, I certainly enjoy reading about the complexities of life. It's notable that true scientific study not only beats back the forces of myth and superstition but also never fails to totally decimate the charlatan book writers and hucksters who prey on the ignorance of the superstitious masses for their money.

Always nice to expose the arrogance of secular, atheist, anti-American absurdists such as yourself. Present your absolute proof of macro-evolution to the scientific world, or shut up. Right wing Professor my ass. Your need to always denigrate others (Behe)to justify your own pathetic position is reprehensible. You aren't fit to hold his (or my) scientific jockstrap!
