CIA Fires Employee for Leaking to Media

WASHINGTON — The CIA has fired an employee for leaking classified information to the news media, including details about secret CIA prisons in Eastern Europe, officials said today.

A federal criminal investigation has also been opened.

CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said an officer had been fired for having unauthorized contacts with the media and disclosing classified information to reporters, including details about intelligence operations.

"The officer has acknowledged unauthorized discussions with the media and the unauthorized sharing of classified information," Gimigliano said. "That is a violation of the secrecy agreement that everyone signs as a condition of employment with the CIA."

Citing the Privacy Act, the CIA would not disclose any details about the officer's identity or what he might have told the news media.

However, a law enforcement official confirmed there was a criminal investigation under way and said the CIA officer had provided information that contributed to a Washington Post story last year saying there were secret U.S. prisons in Eastern Europe. The law enforcement official spoke only on condition of anonymity, citing the sensitivity of the matter.

The Post reported that the CIA had set up a covert prison system after Sept. 11, 2001, that at various times included sites in eight countries. The story caused an international uproar, and government officials have said it did significant damage to relationships between the U.S. and allied intelligence agencies.

How fast will the Democrats canonize this person and their media allies put him on the payroll as a consultant?

You are exactly right.

This isn't just violating a secrecy agreement. This is treason.

However, I don't think we've charged anyone with treason in this country in decades unless there's evidence that national security secrets were sold to a foreign power.

The democrats were so successful in demonizing those who opposed those who tried to expose treasonous acts by those aiding the Soviet Union against us during McCarthy's days, that our government is afraid to charge someone with treason unless if can be clearly proven that the committed treason for financial profit.

the CIA has fired a senior career official over the leak of the so-called "secret prisons"

Hopefully this is only the start of a purge of the shadowy enemy within.

. . . and Berkely will offer the scumbag a full professorship. Which is why I'd favor either (a)a good old-fashioned hanging or (b)a tatoo of Mohammed and airdropping the perp naked into the Sunni Triangle.

Good, thats a start. They need to charge him with something, he needs to do a little time, and he needs a felony rap on his record, just to mess up the rest of his life.

Now, who leaked the CIA flights?

"Does she have a blue dress in her closet?"

If it was Mary McCarthy, as reported, it's a huge story- or would be with an honest media. I think she's way up the ladder in the CIA. As is, she'll be labeled a "whistleblower" and accorded all kinds of kudos.

There have been a lot of leaks. This is a very gratifying news story, because it suggests that the Justice Department is FINALLY doing its job. One down and twenty or thirty to go.

Need to make an immediate correction, due to the anti American, Communist bias of the Slimes:

"The CIA has fired an employee for leaking classified information to the news media, including LIES about NONEXISTENT BUT IMAGINED secret CIA prisons in Eastern Europe, officials said today."

Mary McCarthy is a die-hard Clintonista operative. She's also the NSC Senior Director of Intel.

"(3) The report of the 9/11 Commission notes that the National Security staff reviewed the intelligence in April 2000 and concluded that the CIA's assessment of its intelligence on bin Laden and al-Shifa had been valid; the memo to Clinton on this was cosigned by Richard Clarke and Mary McCarthy, the NSC senior director for intelligence programs, who opposed the bombing of al-Shifa in 1998. The report also notes that in their testimony before the commission, Al Gore, Sandy Berger, George Tenet, and Richard Clarke all stood by the decision to bomb al-Shifa."

The more troubling donation that she made was for $5,000 to the Democratic Party of Ohio...the state that came the closest to sneaking Senator Kerry into the White House.

She **clearly** followed partisan politics so closely that she was trying to influence that state.

Disturbing. Plame. McCarthy. The women of the CIA appear to have quite the penchant for playing partisan politics.
