Old testament stories.

So it all started when Cain and Abel made their offerings to the LORD? Genesis 4:3

There's not a lot of human history preceeding that event in the Old Testament.

Or perhaps Genesis 4:26. Of course, it would appear that Adam and Eve are still alive at that point.

Well, all that aside, Dr. Freud did think that religious teaching, among other things, was a source of the internalized norms and taboos he believed constituted the super-ego.

I wonder if Freud ever dealt with the 'chicken or egg' question of which came first? If one does not have a pre-existing super-ego, how would one even have the ability to dream up a religion that would impose a super-ego on oneself?

Well, it's just idle speculation as to how it all got started.

The old testament is full of stories of how people lived in sin (id). The old testament shows the steps that were taken to inject moral living (ego) up to adapting a superego.

Make you wonder why the angels in Genesis took some of the females, doesnt it? I mean..if you don't have Mr. Johnson down there, why take them? Or maybe they traded them like baseball cards? (the pretty ones I mean)
