Just breaking on Fox...

No details, but the agent was caught dead to rights leaking....

Update: CIA Officer Fired for Leaking Classified Info to Media

WASHINGTON — A CIA officer has been relieved of his duty after being caught leaking classified information to the media.

CIA officials will not reveal the officer's name, assignment, or the information that was leaked. The firing is a highly unusual move, although there has been an ongoing investigation into leaks in the CIA.

One official called this a "damaging leak" that deals with operational information and said the fired officer "knowingly and willfully" leaked the information to the media and "was caught."

Oh the spin has started ... it's just not in full gear yet

I'm thinking they don't know which way to handle this

Now this book makes even more sense:

************************************************************

Unholy Alliance : Radical Islam and the American Left (Hardcover)

*******************************

And a review:

****************************************

Communism is dead. Long live Islam!, September 30, 2004

Reviewer: Kevin Beckman (Sacramento, CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
It sounds absurd: why would Leftists make common cause with a religion that is diametrically opposed to everything the Left stands for? David Horowitz explains that it is really quite logical given the Left's first principle: America is evil and anything or anyone opposed to America is good.

Part I of the book is a brief history of 9/11 through the end of major combat operations in Iraq, and the Left's behavior during this time. Horowitz includes the reaction of Katha Pollitt of The Nation magazine: "The flag stands for vengeance, and jingoism, and war." Anthropology Professor Nicholas De Genova of Columbia University said he hoped for "a million Mogadishus." His colleagues objected, not to the despicable sentiment, but because of the bad publicity it brought their "teach-in." Our tax dollars at work!

Part II is the heart of the book: a history of the American and international Left. Horowitz calls them Neo-Communists or Neocoms. The Neocoms of old believed in the Soviet Union the way religious people believe in God. Those who spied for the USSR didn't see themselves as traitors to their country, but rather loyalists to humanity and an ideal of America that's never existed. When the Soviet Union fell, a few of them stopped for some introspection but most pressed on as if nothing happened. Communist historian Eric Hobsbawm put it nicely: "Without the Revolution, my life and my work are meaningless."

Now that they no longer have to defend an indefensible regime, modern Neocoms are simply nihilists. They know what they oppose but they have no plans for the aftermath of the revolution which they still believe will happen. They don't know what they want, but they know what they hate: the United States, capitalism personified.

So why are they allying with radical Islam? Horowitz says that the Neocoms still believe in Marx's dictum that "religion is the opiate of the masses." Once private property is abolished, the need for religion will vanish, and Islamic radicals will stop being Islamic and radical. The only thing standing in the way is the United States.

Sound insane? It is. They are. I highly recommend this book. Horowitz makes the insanity understandable.

"This passage led Clarke, who for years had read intelligence reports on Iraqi-Sudanese cooperation on chemical weapons, to speculate to Berger that a large Iraqi presence at chemical facilities in Khartoum was "probably a direct result of the Iraq-Al Qida agreement." Clarke added that VX nerve precursor traces found near al Shifa were the "exact formula used by Iraq."

Nonsense, Clarke, every Democrat knows there was no Iraq-Al Qaeda agreement. (sarcasm)

Everything Risen says is "qualified", i.e., it may be true or not. So the purpose of his writings wasn't "truth" but to just throw everything in a blender and nail Bush.

Very true, but I'm more concerned about who's been blabbing to Risen than what Risen's been blabbing :)

Yep, will find the links again... but here's the notes.

I do think it is interesting that Daniel Benjamin is "quoted" as a friend of Fitz in the WAPO love letter bio story and then viola -- he was on the NSC with Wilson And McCArthy, and well a member of CSIS with Mcarthy and on the NYU Security thing with McCarthy AND DANA PRIEST (and Hersh)

And just to reiterate and theme I am going with...Daniel Benjamin being a "quoted" source for the Fitz/WAPO story, he who was a National Security Council memeber with Wilson and McCarthy of which Benjamin is a ffliated with both CSIS and the NYU security group of which DANA PREIST is a member as well...

I was looking at Johnson's blog last night and all the rhetoric was about how wrong it was to fire a "patriot" and Bush should be impeached for "leaking" information. These damn libs are so backwards. They are trying so hard to spin this one because they know she was an inside Rat operative that got busted red handed.

One of the blogs asked the question of where Mc was and could it have been possible (Since once she was responsible for Africa and Latin Countries), that she had something to do with it and if this is part of the reason Fitz wouldn't release the memo of recommendation (someone higher than Val would have to sign off).

"60 Minutes" identified the source as Iraq's foreign minister, Naji Sabri, with whom U.S. spies had made a deal."

So Bush, Cheney, Powell, etc. are all liars, but we're supposed to believe the foreign minister of Iraq. Hey, now I get it!

CBS can go to Perdition.

"from about September 2002 on Cannistraro began telling US and European reporters that there was no evidence of a link between Iraq and Al Qaeda."

Like Cannistraro would really know? I'm glad the man has decided to shut up recently.

"This is the stuff of movies, but the bad guys were ALWAYS Republicans according to Hollywood........"

I think that the idiot Left has always believed that, if they hung around long enough, some day they'd be running the show.

"As an employee in a non-governmental position, my job would be on the line if I took my company's secrets to a stranger and aired linen in public. Wouldn't everyone's???"

Now imagine you are an employee with the CIA, with a Top Secret clearance, who had signed an agreement on employment not to divulge any classified information.

Just as a guess, I'd say they saw them through the CIA non-proliferation office.

It is amazing that Pulitzer's are given to people sitting at their desks waiting to play stenographer when the phone rings. The fact that Claudia Rosett didn't get one for almost singlehandedly investigating the Oil for Food Scandal w/ thoroughly uncooperative players regulates the award to that of a Best Music Oscar.
