Hillary, having failed to socialize US Health Care as a former Health TZAR as Mrs. President, now wants to nationalize or socialize Energy ( translate: socialize oil production)
Each American can be awarded X amount of energy credits for lifetime use and when exceeded , your income tax goes way up?
Will someone take this flaming idiot away some where and tie her to a wind tower so her exhaust can add to the nations energy pool?
Oh yes! In January 2001 the world was in an edenic state! All problems commenced from the swearing-in of the Supreme-Court-appointed usurper George W Bush!
Appliances that have a delayed start feature use an on-board clock in a very low power micro chip and a low power LED indicating light on the console. If you add the milli-wattage up for all of those type appliances in use that could be a bit of a savings but not many people are going to unplug their dishwashers and clothes dryers when not in use.
Same with remote control devices. Not many people are gonna unplug the TV when not in use. It probably wouldn't be good for the TV to be plugged and unplugged one or more times per day.
What this bimbo was telling people to do is the equivalent of unplugging a lamp after you've turned the light out.
Gee she forgot to add that Bush was also responsible for starting World Wars I & II, kidnapping the Lindbergh baby, the eruption of Mount St. Helens and that Karl Rove drinks the blood of babies. I suppose Hillary if elected President will sit on the seashore and demand the hurricanes cease. I can't believe the arrogance of this woman.

I always have a nice, big fire on Earth Day. Somehow it always seems to get lots of plastic, maybe a tire or two, used motor oil, etc.
Even though it doesn't really have anything to do with pollution, I also like to go out and shoot some varmints on Earth Day, just because I know most of the far left greenie wackos are also animal rights nuts.
Yeah, this may seem silly to some, but I work at a power station and these people mess with me and my livelihood 365 days a year. I mock their holy day.
Don't forget - its Lenin's birthday today too. It is not a coincidence
Bigger government, more taxes... all that is missing from Miz Hillary's new plan is a MEGA Barf alert!
In his latest Asbrook Center "You Americans" podcast, Peter Schramm interviews our friend Steve Hayward. Steve is the author of several important and brilliant books including Greatness: Reagan, Churchill and the Making of Extraordinary Leaders, The Real Jimmy Carter and The Age of Reagan, 1964-1980: The Fall of the Old Liberal Order.
Most recently, Steve is the author of the eleventh edition of the Index of Leading Environmental Indicators. Steve writes: "Guess what? The environment continues to improve. Even in China and Mexico." Steve and Peter pick up on the latest attempt to whip up environmental hysteria, continue with the the changes in the White House team and Republican prospects in November's elections. Steve knows a lot about a lot of things, but wears his learning lightly. I think you'll enjoy the podcast.
I want higher-priced oil and I want it NOW!
VCR, DVD, TV, stereo, nuker, etc. The ac-to-dc is pretty inefficient. Last I read, it was about 5w.
Each of the GFCIs draws 2w just sitting there. (They all pretty much have the same chip).
Lastly, the ubiquitous wall-wart. Just being plugged in draws about 40-60% of its power rating. Put them on
switched outlets where ever possible.
My advice for earth day is consume as much of it as possible, it won't last forever but it will sure outlast you!
Don't pay your power bill and next month you will save all kinds of power.
As long as I pay my bill i'll use as much as I damn well please, screw conservation.
Is that per hour? 5 watts is nothing. On a 120 VAC outlet thats a current of about 40 milliamperes.

I'm assuming that a wall-wart is a TV. The sticker on the back of my TV states that it uses 1.41 amps at 120 VAC. That's about 170 watts. 50% of that is 85 which is the equivalent of burning a 85 watt light bulb 24/7. That's .085 KWh and comes out to 61.2 KWh/month. The price for electricity here in SC is about 9 cents/KWh. So the cost to leave that TV plugged in is about $5.50 per month.
The reason why the TV is using electricity even when it is not 'turned on' is the warming circuits. Without the warming circuits the TV electronics would be 'shocked' every time it is cold started which would result in higher rates of circuit failure which means that we'd be replacing our TV's more often.
So, which is more energy consuming? 60 KWh/month or the manufacture of millions of extra replacement TV's per year?
The big energy consumers in a typical residential structure are the heating and cooling of indoor air, the heating of water and the refrigeration of food.
Here's a fun little web site if you're interested in calculating your household energy consumption.
I just bothers me that certain inefficiencies are built in to the system.
You want to act year 'round like Clark W. Griswald does at Christmas, fine. I'm more annoyed at people that leave
their porch lights on when I'm trying to enjoy whatever meteor shower I'm trying to watch.
And yes, I disagree with the enlightened wanting to charge higher rates for the conspicuously wastrel rich.
