North Carolinians pay the following in State Gas Taxes (per gallon):
North Carolina: 29.9 cents per gallon South Carolina: 16 cents per gallon Georgia: 7.5 cents per gallon Virginia: 17.5 cents per gallon
Had enough?
Many of you have gone to our Gas Tax Rally website (gastaxrally.com) and have signed up to attend the free rally to be held May 9th in downtown Raleigh. If you have not signed up, now is the time. Be a part of history on May 9th - together we can make a difference!
May 9th is the first day of session - we will be heard! Read the response below from a Citizen Leader who signed up to attend the rally:
"It is taking a huge part of my paycheck just to get to work and back. The gas taxes and prices are outrageous and something needs to be done now!"
Please forward this information to your friends and take them with you to the rally. The time to act is now. I'll see you in Raleigh!
Go to gastaxrally.com to RSVP for this free rally.
I live out in Asheville so can't make it but you have my full support. They are trying to tax us to death! State income tax, higher gas tax, tax on rainwater here!
Thank you!
Be sure to sign the petition at www.stopthegastaxhike.com. Over 61,000 North Carolinians have already signed up!
Could you make it if a bus was available?
I signed the petition but can't attend because I have plans for the weekend - my daughter's birthday. But I really hope a lot of people show up.
We will have a big crowd if the weather is nice.
Happy birthday to your daughter!
Thanks!
I was always amazed by the amount of and the number of taxes NC levys on its citizens.
Kinda like Massachusetts of the South.
Higher taxes are needed to pay for the free services and benefits given to illegals.
Ya know???? 29 cents is high when gas is $1.25 a gallon, but when gas is $3.00 and better, .29 cents aint squat.
So you drop the tax and gas goes down 29 cents.
Big deal, You are still paying $2.75 a gallon.
As the old song says. How highs the water Momma?. 6 feet high and rising.
You can pay the 29 cent per gallon extra if you wish - that is your choice.
Also feel free to pay additional taxes above and beyond the taxes you owe.
Also, in NC the gas tax will automatically go up in July due to wholesale gas prices going up. No votes taken in the General Assembly. An automatic tax increase.
Also, our Highway Trust Fund (used to build and maintain roads) has been raided by the Dems to pay for pork projects. The Dems have also raised our income and sales taxes as well. Don't get me started on fees in this state.
I would like to keep SOME of my money. Ya know.
I feel the same way you do, but as I aid before , even if the gas tax was zero you would still be paying $2.75 for gas.
Having said that i willadd that I dont know what they do with the gas tax money as roads and bridges are turning to crap.
