A national U.S. immigration sweep has netted more than 1,000 illegal workers and resulted in the arrests of at least nine people who employed them. U.S. Attorney Glenn Suddaby in Albany, N.Y., said the raid focused on IFCO Systems, which is a manufacturer of wooden pallets, crates and containers. Arrests were made in nearly 40 locations including Houston, Cincinnati, Phoenix and Albany, CNN reported. A customs official said federal authorities checked a sample of 5,800 IFCO employee records last year and found that 53 percent had Social Security numbers of dead people children or individuals who did not work at IFCO.

I'm pretty sure falsely using SSNs is a felony. I hope they throw the book at 'em.
Then I hope the Feds start digging into this really deeply.

OK....now multiply 1,000 X 10,000 (1,000 per next 10 months) and I figure the Feds will look serious about hearing what its citizens are screaming about. Just one BIG question? Will those 1,000 be deported because of being here illegaly in the first place, and secondly, will they be deported with no legal means to immigrate again legally to the US since they committed fraud with the federal government which is a felony??

Well, they are just using the Social Security numbers that dead Americans no longer want to use, what's the problem?

The traffic in false documentation among illegal aliens is rife. This latest disclosure only points out the folly of qualifying illegals for amnesty (in the misnamed bill proposed) based on proof of how long illegal immigrants have been in the US (the false documentation they will present).

I'm pretty sure falsely using SSNs is a felony. I hope they throw the book at 'em.Working out the numbers indicates a need to double the prison system capacity.....
that means more construction jobs and more guards.......
maybe there are a few Americans left that need a good job.......
but I guess standing around the street corner smoking crack is all some will ever attain.

This is nothing more than a dog and pony show by the Feds. It would seem that someone in DC has seen the pitch fork and torch crowds and want to show that they are doing something. Also look for the Administration to say, "see we are securing the nation against illegals." Look for one or two more raids with lots of chest beating and then we go back to business as usual. Hate to say it but I think Bush is pulling a "Clinton"...with this trust us move.

This is good news but we need to start seeing this happen daily. This problem runs deep. a lot of hard working Americans who play by the rules continue to struggle just to make ends meet while greedy business owners get wealthy by hiring illegal immigrants at low wages. Enough already throw the book at all of them. Dry up the work and it will do the deporting for us.

To: IrishMike
Are you aware that this was a catch and release yesterday? All of the illegals were released within 5 hours in Houston and probably all the other cities.

Yes, we can't call them undocumented...because they had documents...just someone else's. Perhaps they are other-documented?

Its more than just crossing the borders now!!Mexicans are in fact guilty of felonies!Crossing the borders should be upgraded to a felony without trial. All that is necessary is,"do you have your papers"?If not your guilty as hell!
To: IrishMike
Vaquero did, of course.
I've heard variations of it from too many Army sergeants for too many years to believe it's an attributable quote.
