Although both agencies have reported bombings and murders committed by Maoist guerrillas in the past, you will see no hint of that in today's stories.
Clearly, the Maoist thugs have been transmorgified into peaceful protestors ! Aren't you GLAD ??

It's the same all over.
I'm just watching BBC World Channel and they had a guest who admitted that the Communists ("Maoists") are among the protestors.
But they say the democratic parties are involved and that they won't cave to the Maoists if they ("democratic parties") have power and will demand that the Communists give up guns and become a democratic party.
We shall see if they overthrow the King but the Commies are a threat and India would be needed to step in and keep them from winning power by the gun if things fall apart. India may very well do that.
They've already sent a "peace envoy" to Nepal this week and I don't think they are keen on another Communist country on their borders.
Thanks for the info. That's how Fox was reporting it this morning, and that's what I believed, until reading this.
India is trying desperately to get the king to hand power back to legitimate democratic parties, so as to preempt a Maoist takeover, and a bloody revolution ending in the king and family being slaughtered. The king is terribly unpopular anyway, always has been, unlike his decesaed brother.
The Indian government is hoping that the king sees reason, and quits, before the whole population, out of their dislike for him fall prey to Maoist ideology.
The protestors aren't the Maoists. The Maoists are rebels who shoot people and blow up things, they don't assemble peacefully to call for elections. It looks like Gyanendra is on his way out, which is what the people of Nepal want, and restoring democracy is the only way to build a united front against the Maoists.
Believe it or not, all Communists are not created equal. The Communists who are protesting are anti-Maoist, and supporters (at least for the time being) of democracy.
Just heard on BBC that the King is standing down - turning power over to the 7 political parties.
I can't find this on the net.
