One thing I found generally interesting in this study is the more elite you are, the more liberal you are.
Interesting survey.
Not as interesting as it sounds, for one thing, not every one of those issues is a moral issue.
Yuck!
Because the more elite you are the less you are impacted by the consequences of your actions. Liberalism at its very core is the belief that individuals are not responsible for their own actions i.e. it's not your fault you choose to take it in the rear, you won't be judged in the afterlife, etc.
Interesting trivia. The only time I "cheated" on my taxes (twice) I didn't do it on purpose ... and I STILL felt bad about it - BOTH times. :-)
Now why doesn't the following observation surprise me?
There is a partisan divide in how people judge these behaviors. A majority of Republicans say seven of the ten behaviors are morally wrong; while a majority of Democrats and independents say just three of the behaviors (adultery, underreporting taxable income; drinking excessively) are morally wrong.
"One thing I found generally interesting in this study is the more elite you are, the more liberal you are."
Sounds like a ceartin talk radio star that changed in the 90's after becoming big.
It's interesting to me. Most of the questions appear to be moral issues to the people who took the survey. One of the questions was "Is this a moral issue?" That was part of the survey.
Yet, in the same poll, they are much more loose when it comes to homosexuality. More to the point, the respondents place less moral implications on a union and a movement that goes against the sanctity of heterosexual unions.
Once you decide to smash the foundations of society on a personal scale (Howard's divorce), it's a short walk to smashing them on a societal scale (Howard's radio show). Or, in his case, the reverse also happened. I knew Howard would be getting divorced years before he ever announced it.
Well I don't like Howard for sure, but that is not who I was talking about.
